Progress: 7/8
This morning, I looked at the tasks and decided there is exactly 1 book which I can apply to this challenge that I can identify, so I'm going to skip it. Since I very seldom read space books, task 1 is a non-starter in any case - or so I thought. Then I go to the library and find a space book while choosing books for my toddlers - YA shelf at the counter. So now of course I think, maybe I can do this...
Task 4: Any chance I can read a book where the author is a well-known homosexual?
Task 4: Any chance I can read a book where the author is a well-known homosexual?
There are a lot of books that have time travel in it that aren't science fiction. There is a lot of fantasy and even historical novels out there that have time travel. There is a great Dutch Children's book about the Children's Crusade with time travel in it that I am sure is translated.
And for task 4 you can always choose the con-man option.
Are you going to read any of the Gail Carriger novels? Because they have a gay character in them.

My favourite book with time travel is Night Watch by Terry Pratchett I have to admit - Thief of Time would also qualify.
I haven't thought of Gail Carriger and I must still read Timeless so that's a great idea. How could I forget Lord Akeldama? Thanks!

I'm using Rivonia's Children: Three Families and the Cost of Conscience in White South Africa which was lurking on my table. There are a few editions of Jo's Boys (and probably Little Men) that have ties on the cover. I also have some Raymond Chandler's that have ties on the covers.
I vaguely remember somebody being tortured with this task in the Choose Wisely Challenge as well if you feel like checking that.
Hope that helps!

I've also discovered a bunch of Elizabeth Cadells that qualify. That's old fashioned romance but they are lovely to read quickly. If you are In Joburg you're welcome to come and borrow something.

Otherwise I will try Jo's Boys. I LOVE Little Women!"
I just reread it for the Parasol challenge in probably 20 years and realized how much I still love it. I'm planning on rereading the rest of the series next year as well as the Anne series. I reread that for the red head task and still adore it. I must have read Anne of Green Gables about 10 times by now!

I was just about to ask the same question. I hate the tie on cover thing and unfortunately it does come up every now and then. I was also the one that was tortured by it in the Choose Wisely challenge and I read the first Artemis Fowl book.

I have no opinion whatsoever. I am one of the few women on the earth that are affected by what is generally considered a man's ailment. I have difficulty seeing colours. I can only distinguish about 2/3 of the colours out there. So green is often blue for me and the other way around. So if someone says it is blue, I trust they are right.
Just to come back to the tie/bow-tie cover problem. I just discovered that my Sherlock Holmes books all have a cover with Sherlock Holmes wearing either a tie or a bow-tie. I know it is not for everybody, but maybe some of you can use this.
