Eclipse
question
What connection does the Robert Frost poem have with Eclipse?

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say ice,
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire,
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice is also great
And would suffice.

I actually have no clue. I think it might have to do with what world she's going to live in. But I really don't know.
I think it was at the beginning of the movie. What I took from it was a metaphor for Jacob vs Edward, as they make many references throughout the movie about Edward being ice-cold and Jacob being burning hot. Then towards the end Bella almost freezes to death (ice) and the newborn vampires have to be burned to death (fire). I think she reads it at the beginning as a type of foreshadowing.
Stephenie Myer is saying that Jacob, in some sense, is fire and Edward, in another, is ice and Eclipse is all about Bella's choice between these two so I thought it seemed very appropriate.
The poem actually speaks about how one relationship could end. Some say it will end in fire - like Jacob end it, fighting till the end. Or some say it will end in ice - like Edward did it in New Moon when he left Bella. Or maybe fire and ice represents choices for Bella between her human life and vampire life. From my perspective Edward was love of her life since she laid her eyes on him, so it never was a choice between Jacob and Edward.
Um I believe it is about the choice she has to make. Between Jacob the wolf who is hot(in a temp sense) or Edward who is cold as ice. Or that's my opinion anyway :)
I think it's representing the differences between the two men in her life and how they treat her differently. It shows how under the main story there is Bella's internal battle with her self. Se loves Edward and wants to be with him for ever but she also loves Jacob and knows she has to chose one and those around her want her pick differently to others thus some say the world in end in fire some say in ice.

Fire represents Jacob, ice represents Edward. The lines, "Some say the world will end in fire, some say in ice." signifies Bella's having to choose between them.
Bella in this poem refers to her desire for Edward and wanting to be a vampire as fire which she thinks is enough for her destruction.. But if she were to die twice what would would kill her is hatred (ice) which exists between the two people she likes Edward and Jacob.
Bella Swan quoted the poem at the beginning of "Twilight:Eclipse" or sometime during the Movie. But I think it's at the beginning of the Movie.
