Well for some reason some how the original thread for our group where we introduce ourselves got deleted. That is such a bummer! And goodreads can't do anything about it if a link is deleted. So introduce yourself here... and if you introduced yourself before well feel free to do it again. Still bummed that thread is gone. :(

message 2: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Aw, I'm so sorry to hear that it's been deleted, Angie..:(

My name's Dustin. I've been an active member since September 2010, and Goodreads has become like a second family to me. I enjoy a wide variety of genre's, but my all-time favorite writer is King. Ted Dekker is quickly becoming my 2nd favorite!

message 3: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (goodreadscombeebeezee) Technology is great ... when it works! :)

I'm Barb and I've been following Goodreads for a year or to. Sometimes more than others. Stephen King is my all time favorite author but I will read almost anything. I just love to read.

Tee Hello!
I'm Tanya, and I'm from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
My first Stephen King book was Pet Sematary. After that, I started picking my way through his work. I really enjoyed It, Misery, and the Dark Tower series.
More recently, I was very impressed with 11/22/63, it was superb!

thanks for the add. I think what makes sites like this work is user interaction. I have a short attention span at the best of times. Hoping to get involved and meet new people. :¬)

message 15: by Autumn (new)

Autumn (autumnmemory80) My name is Autumn and I am from Alabama. I have loved creepy and scary books since I was a kid, starting when I read RL Stine and Christopher Pike. While I love a creepy book, the movies terrify me. I never ventured into Stephen King because I was too afraid. I read my first Stephen King book in November by reading Carrie. This, I felt, was a good introduction to his voice. I really loved the book and immediately bought The Shining. I really did not find it scary at all, and only slightly creepy in regards to Grady. Now I am reading It, and I can tell this one may give me nightmares. Is it sad that I find that exciting? Because of this Stephen King kick, I have a small group of friends who are going to offer their support and watch Carrie, The Shining, and It all in one night. This should be fun!

message 22: by Cassia (new)

Cassia Frankincense (cassia-frankincense) | 1 comments Hello fellow fans! I'm Cassia and I came into loving King's work a bit late despite loving the film adaptation of Shawshank since I was little; I was a little afraid of reading his horror. I'm very glad I got over that and really enjoy how so much of his work (that I've read so far) is so hopeful.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey y'all. I'm Kyle, husband and father of three from South Boston. I've been reading KING since I was a teen. It is my favorite King book. Recently read 11/22/63 and it is a modern masterpiece of literature.

message 24: by Judy (new)

Judy Goodwin | 17 comments Hmm, so apparently I need to check out 11/22/63. Lol right after I finish the Tower series and Under the Dome which I'm currently reading.

I've been a fan of King since I read The Dead Zone back in the 80's. He's really a master story crafter.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

King is a very versatile writer. 11/22/63 showed the magnitude of his talent. IT was my first King book. I was hooked from thereon in.

I'm a huge King fan, Kathryn. IT will always be my favorite novel by him. It will scare you, be prepared.

I didn't care for Salem's Lot, but I hope you enjoy it. I liked the 1979 movie adaptation of Salem's Lot much better than the book.

Have you read any other books by KING?

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

IT is my favorite King book by far. I have yet to read The Stand because I'm not into apocalyptic novels.

Misery by Stephen King Pet Sematary by Stephen King Christine by Stephen King The Dark Half by Stephen King Dolores Claiborne by Stephen King Gerald's Game by Stephen King The Tommyknockers by Stephen King Hearts in Atlantis by Stephen King Rose Madder by Stephen King Full Dark, No Stars by Stephen King From a Buick 8 by Stephen King I've read them all and I recommend them highly.

Yes, I've read a handful so far. Under the Dome is my all-time favorite book, King or not. I read The Shining a few months ago and have also read 11-22-63 (very good,) Cell and Gerald's game. Also just finished Joyland. I'm trying to get a few books ahead in my 2013 reading challenge because It will probably take me a while to get through. It looks like it is about the same length as Under the Dome.

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

I liked Joyland but I thought it was mostly drama. I was thinking it was going to be a book about horrific things happening at an amusement park, but it was not so. Still worth reading, though.

Soumyabrata Gupta | 6 comments Ok, so hello everyone, am Soumyabrata from India. Am a journalist and a critic by profession and I have been a Stephen King fan ever since I started reading Black House one summer afternoon, here in our American Library. My favourite Stephen King novels. Gosh, thats difficult. I love them all, or all those that I have read. The Dark Tower series is awesome. Apart from that I suppose I have loved reading The Stand, It. 'Salem's Lot, definitely The Shining, and I guess I could go on and on. Oh! And yes Duma Key as well!
That's me. King's a God through and through! And before I forget, 11/22/63 and Under the Dome. Stellar books I tell you. Eagerly awaiting Doctor Sleep. And really need to read Joyland as well!!!!!!

Hi Soumyabrata its great to have you in the group.I believe I used to be the only member in the group from India (if there is anyone else they are not active).

King is my favorite author too & I hope you continue to enjoy his books.I too love Salem's Lot among the books you stated.I would love to recommend The Dead Zone & Pet Sematary to you amongst King's work if you have not read them yet.

Crawford Pederson | 4 comments Hello, My name is Crawford and I have been a member for a full two days (since I finished Joyland).
I am a huge Stephen King fan even though I have only read a few of his many books. I am also trying to branch out into new authors so I am always open for suggestions. Loved Salems Lot and the first three books of the Dark Tower series but have not started the fourth yet. Thoroughly enjoyed Joyland and am currently reading Hearts in Atlantis. Glad to be apart of a group of Stephen King fans.

Hey Aditya! Funny, you should say that, The Dead Zone was the book that I went out to buy right after I had posted my last message. Unfortunately for me, it was unavailable. Haven't read Pet Semetary either though... And honestly, I really have not seen that many King fans among the people I know. It is awesome to see someone from India who is passionate about King's works as well! What are you reading now? Happy reading btw!

Thanks & I am reading Skeleton Crew by King.I have not seen many King fans in India either though most people usually like the movies made from his books.

Completely agree boss. Well after much fretting I decided to start reading the The Dark Tower Series... again! But have you read any of Joe Hill's books? He is as good as his father. Give Horns or Heart Shaped box a try if you can. I will soon start with 20th Century Ghosts. Got the package today itself. And am eagerly awaiting Nos4a2!

Denise Denner | 1 comments Hi, I'm Denise. I've been hooked on Stephen King (and as Richard Bachman) since I bought Carrie when it came out in paperback - yes, I'm that old. I have since read each book as it was released. I even read The Stand twice - the first and revised printing. I'm looking forward to reading and discussing with this group.

message 48: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi I'm Rick. I know I'm giving away my age here but I was first introduced to Stephen by way of his short stories in men's magazines when I was in the military. I recall seeing his first novel Carrie, on the shelf at the PX and remembering his name from his short stories, I picked it up. I've been hooked ever since. While I haven't read everything he's written, I've read most of it and have enjoyed this journey immensely.
