Mary | 100 comments I've just finished a re-read on the O'Hurleys!

Kris (My Novelesque Life) (mynovelesquelife) Last night I finished reading A Hint of Wicked (James Family, #1) by Jennifer Haymore and I really enjoyed the novel. I went straight into book 2.

message 4: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I finished reading The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton by S.E. Hinton last night. This was my first time reading The Outsiders. I never managed to get around to reading it as a teenager but I've heard so many people say it is one of their favourite books so I thought it was about time that I read it finally. And now that I've finished the book I can't believe I waited so long! The Outsiders is a gripping and compelling read which is full of suspense. It was also extremely heart-breaking and touching at times. The novel is very well-written, considering S.E. Hinton was just seventeen years old when she wrote it. I was amazed with the amount of depth and layers in this book. It really is wonderful. Five stars!

Kris (My Novelesque Life) (mynovelesquelife) I just finished reading Where Angels Rest and Tangled Reins.

message 7: by Jean (new)

Jean (otakumom) I just finished the first three books of the Wallflower series by Lisa Kleypas. I enjoyed the group of female misfits banding together. First book was good but I throughly enjoyed the next two. On my way to read the last one of the series.

Secrets of a Summer Night (Wallflowers, #1) by Lisa Kleypas It Happened One Autumn (Wallflowers, #2) by Lisa Kleypas Devil in Winter (Wallflowers, #3) by Lisa Kleypas

How did you like Tangled Reins? Is it worth reading?

Mary | 100 comments I've read Eternity in Death Eternity in Death (In Death, #24.5) by J.D. Robb by J.D. Robb.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) Mary wrote: "I've read Eternity in DeathEternity in Death (In Death, #24.5) by J.D. Robb by J.D. Robb."

Not one of my favorites. In fact, this is one of my least fav of the novellas.

message 11: by Mary (new)

Mary | 100 comments Really? I can't say I was thrilled with it,but it was quite good! My feelings, though, are mostly neutral for this one...

message 12: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) I was just so creeped out by that guy from the start.

message 13: by Mary (new)

Mary | 100 comments Yeah, I understand what you are saying, but I think we have read creepier stories and characters from NR, like Divine Evil. Do you remember that one? I mean it was a great book, but that one really creeped me out! Anyways I don't scare easily with vampire or pseudovampire stuff and they don't disgust me either as others...
I guess we are entitled not to like some of NR's writings!

message 14: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) I read a lot of vampire stuff but in the context of this series, it was a little weird. It set my teeth on edge from the start.

message 15: by Mary (new)

Mary | 100 comments Yeah, I see what you mean. She changed the style of the series and of Eve's cases. I guess we can say that luckily it was a short novella and not a book with 300+ pages!

message 16: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) Just finished Missing Daughter, Shattered Family Missing Daughter, Shattered Family by Liz Strange and really enjoyed it. It is a m/m romantic suspense/mystery, the first in a planned series by a new author.

Kris (My Novelesque Life) (mynovelesquelife) Jean wrote: "Kris wrote: "I just finished reading Where Angels Rest and Tangled Reins."

Sorry about late response, Jean...it was a fun read but nothing outstanding. I recommend the audio as the narrator had a great voice.

message 23: by Jean (new)

Jean (otakumom) Jonetta wrote: "Would you put any of these as favorites?"

I would put A Week to be Wicked as a favorite. It was entertaining and well developed for the most part. I really enjoyed the characters and their developing relationship.

message 24: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) Thanks, Jean!

message 25: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) I finished All He Ever Desired All He Ever Desired (Kowalski Family, #5) by Shannon Stacey by Shannon Stacey and really liked it. It's the fifth book in the Kowalski Family series. I also knocked off a novella in the Lucky Harbor series called Under the Mistletoe (Lucky Harbor, #6.5) by Jill Shalvis Under the Mistletoe by Jill Shalvis, which was a sweet but steamy little story.

message 26: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) I finished Crazy Thing Called Love Crazy Thing Called Love by Molly O'Keefe by Molly O'Keefe and LOVED it!

message 28: by Jean (last edited Dec 10, 2012 03:47PM) (new)

Jean (otakumom) The Mad Lord's Daughter by Jane Goodger I just finished this novel, The Mad Lord's Daughter. It reminds me of a good old fashion Victorian Gothic novel which may be the author's intent since they also make allusions to Jane Eyre.

Kris (My Novelesque Life) (mynovelesquelife) Jean wrote: "The Mad Lord's Daughter by Jane Goodger I just finished this novel, The Mad Lord's Daughter. It reminds me of a good old fashion Victorian Gothic novel which may be the author's intent since..."

Good to hear...I have this book so will need to move it up the list.

Kris (My Novelesque Life) (mynovelesquelife) I finished When Snow Falls (Whiskey Creek, #2) by Brenda Novak and really like this series.

Mary | 100 comments Last night I finished reading Undeniably Yours Undeniably Yours (Kowalski Family, #2) by Shannon Stacey .

message 36: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) I finished Nowhere to Hide Nowhere to Hide by Nancy Bush by Nancy Bush. This book is not set up as a series and it should be. There's a connected book, Nowhere to Run by Nancy Bush Nowhere to Run that should be read first. It's a bit frustrating when a book is positioned as a standalone and a significant portion of the book keeps referencing events from the first one. I would have had a better opinion of the book otherwise.

Kris (My Novelesque Life) (mynovelesquelife) I finally had time to finish Blood Brothers (Sign of Seven, #1) by Nora Roberts and loved it, again.

message 38: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) I finished Pleasure Unbound Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, #1) by Larissa Ione by Larissa Ione. It took awhile for me to get into the story...lots of world building and complicated species...but around the 1/3 mark, it got really interesting and I plan to read the next book.

message 45: by Candace (new)

Candace Schuler | 14 comments I recently finished The Duchess War by Courtney Milan. It’s set in Victorian England in the midst of the Industrial Revolution. I found all the characters, including the secondary characters, very well-rounded with believable strengths and weaknesses. Highly recommend. The Duchess War

message 46: by Jean (last edited Dec 22, 2012 07:45AM) (new)

Jean (otakumom) I just finished reading this week:

message 47: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) I finished Shadow Woman Shadow Woman by Linda Howard by Linda Howard. It's an intriguing story but not one of her best.
