Ricki When I picked this up, I knew it was the second book in the series, so I knew I might feel lost at first. However, as the story went on, I realized that the first book in the series was not the original Stucky case, and that was the part of the story I was most confused about. Anyone else feel like they were missing part of the story?

Mary The first book "A Perfect Evil" alluded to the Stuckey serial killer case in Maggie O'Dell's flashbacks, and I wondered if I had missed a book, but checked up and found out that I was indeed reading the first of the series. In the second book, "Split Second", Stuckey escapes from being transferred to a maximum security prison and then we get to know the full story of the killer who was responsible for Maggie's severe trauma. Book 1. has to be read first, or it is indeed confusing, because the background is laid out in this one.
