If you had to recommend this book to anyone, who would you recommend it to and why?

Please consult your rubric and models to ensure that you are doing your best work!

For a “4”: Did I….
• Write a topic sentence that provided the title, author, and genre of my text?

• Find a direct quote from the text that proves my idea?
• Thoroughly explain the significance of my quote/how it proves my idea?
• Check for correct punctuation and spelling?

Ilijah A | 40 comments I would recommend the fiction novel book The Book Thief by Markus Zusak to any eighth grader or anyone over the age of 13. I say this because this book talks about World War II and the Holocaust. I like this book so far because it really catches my attention and I know a few things about the Holocaust myself. “She leaned down and looked at his lifeless face and Leisel kissed her best friend, Rudy Steiner, soft and true on his lips. He tasted dusty and sweet. He tasted like regret in the shadows of trees and in the glow of the anarchist's suit collection. She kissed him long and soft, and when she pulled herself away, she touched his mouth with her fingers...She did not say goodbye. She was incapable, and after a few more minutes at his side, she was able to tear herself from the ground. It amazes me what humans can do, even when streams are flowing down their faces and they stagger on...”. This quote proves my point that this book is for pre teens because it talks about love and most kids do not know much about love. Therefore kids at a certain age should no read this book because it might be difficult for them to understand.

Karen (allergic2haters) | 37 comments Linger (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #2) by Maggie Stiefvater
Linger
I would recommend this fanstay romance novel to ninth graders and older because they this book is about a girl named Grace (17 years old) and a boy named Sam (18 years old) are having a relationship together including a really romance relationship. But I would recommended to my mom because we had saw and read the Twilight series and loved it. This is similar but about a werewolf who became back to human. In the first book Shiver there was a quote when Grace saw Sam as a werewolf. "One wolf prodded his nose into my hand and against my cheek, casting a shadow across my face. His yellow eyes looked into mine while the other wolves jerked me this way and that. I held on to those eyes for as long as I could. Yellow. And, up close, flecked brilliantly with every shade of gold and hazel. I didn’t want him to look away, and he didn’t." This quote shows that Sam meet Grace by looking each other in their eyes. This is where Grace started to feel in love with Sam. But later on she finds out he is a werewolf. Therefore, I recommmend this book to 9th grades, older people, and my mother because it's similar to the Twilight Series but with more details describing everything.

Bryan | 41 comments I would recommend this realistic fiction novel, 8th grade super zero by Rhuday Perkovich to any 7th grade students because they to know about what could happen to them when they reach eighth grade. Reggie is being picked on at his school when he started 8th grade on September. They have been calling him a mean name too, they call him Pukey. "Hey Pukey, you got a pen?' Hector Vega jabs me in the back"(3). this quote shows that no one will ever respect you if you don't stop trying to be a zero at school. Meaning that if you start being more cool and less uncool than you will be given the respect that you deserve. Therefore I recommend that some 7th grade students should go get this book so they can use it to be more interesting to others.

Wesley | 50 comments i would recommend this book for someone who likes novels about saving the world. this would be like Hunger Games because Katniss and Eragon are trying to kill ruler. It is also similar to Percy jackson becaus ehe is saving the common people. No only is book really good, it teaches many morals. This is good because not only do you enjoy reading it, you will also learn from it. "Death is part of who we are. It guides us. It shapes us. It drives us to madness. Can you still be human if you have no mortal end?" this is one of the many morals. This is very interesting and makes me think about the meaning instead of just reading for reading. Therefore i would reaccommnd this to those who can read and love morals

Aaron | 29 comments I would recommend my book Whatever Happened to Janie by Caroline Cooney to the kids who loves mystery books because Whatever Happened to Janie is all about that it is a heart thumbing, bones shivering and you would never want to put the book down. But wait wonder if you finish the first book then dont be sad because it is a series so you could read the first, second, third, forth, and fith. "Hey have you seen Janie she's been gone for 5 weeks it's almost like a mysery." this quote means that this book is a full time mystery book and it could be the best mystery book I have ever read. therefore thats why I would rcommend this book to kids who like mystery's because so far the best mystery book i have every read.

Sydney Mok (SydneyMok) | 43 comments I would recommend the book Ten Things We Did ( AndProbably Shouldn't Have) by Sarah Mlynowski to teen girls. I would recommend this book to teens because this book is about a teen girl's life and how she was told to move but she didn't want to so she moved in with her friend. This book is also about how the protagonist, April has a lot of drama going on in her life. This book would be good for teen girls because it shows how their life can be like for a teen. It also tells us how teens can be dareing and not listen to their parents. April's parents are moving to Cleveland but she convinced her parents to let her stay with her friend and her friend's mom. April lied though because her friend's mom was going to travel somewhere else and she was going to be alone with eher friend until the end of the school year. " I nodded and tried to ignore the guilt creeping in when I heard the word trust" (25). This quote shows that April was lying to her father and that she isn't trustworthy. I would recommend this book to teen girls because it will teach them how trust is an important thing someone needs to have.

Jamilah B | 37 comments Catalyst by Laurie Halse Anderson

Catalyst

I would recommend my realistic fiction novel Catalyst by Laurie Halse Anderson to anyone who has read Speak (also written by Laurie) because both books take place at Merryweather High school and Melinda(protagonist in Speak) is also starred in Catalyst. "I park the car in the last row of the Merryweather High student lot and sprint to the door" (22). This quote shows that Kate attends Merryweather High just like Melinda in Speak. So therefore i would recommend this book to anyone who has read Speak because you will have a good understanding to who the characters are and their setting.

Zoe | 25 comments I would recommend the fantasy novel Brisingr to people who like to read about fantasy, and mythical creatures. Eragon, the main character in the novel, is a Dragon Rider that has a dragon named Saphira. Saphira and Eragon can contact eachother through their minds if they are in trouble. Since Eragon is a Dragon Rider, he also has special abilities, like being able to cast spells to do certain things. I would also recommend this book to people who are ages 12 and up, because there is a little violence in the novel, and there is also some bad language in it. I also recommend this novel to people who are age 12 and up because there are some big words in the book that young kids might not understand.

Corey | 43 comments I would recommend the book The Battle Of Labyrinth Rick Riordan's fanstry novel to someone who read his books and to whoever likes books that have fighting in it.Reading his books is fun and you will enjoy it. Percy Jackson is 14 year old half-blood who decides to go inside the labyrinth with his friends. The labyrinth is a maze which only one person went in and came out alive. During the way inside the labyrinth there was a lot of fighting between the enemy and his friends. "I am well prepared for this battle as well every battle," This proves that there is a lot of fighting in the book. People who also like to read books about the roman gods should read his book

Gabby T. | 22 comments I would recommend Darren shan's book a living nightmare because its a interesting story to read and it was well written. The book is about a boy named Darren shan who is one it obsessed with spiders and goes to a freak show with his best friend. During the freakshow one performance has a spider which Darren is is amazed by and he steals the spider. the spider is a rare poisonous spider and stings his best friend steve and paralyzed him.The only who has the antidote is the person he stole the spider from Mr.Creaplsey. So Darren returns the spider and tells him what happened Mr.Cresplsey who is a vampire only agrees to help Darren if he becomes his assistant. "Steve roared with fear and surged too his feet.He sipped at the spider, but she ducked and his hand missed." this line shows that the book is written well and descriptive and also is supenful.

Altamir III III (longdeoking) | 27 comments I would recommend this book, Darkness Before Dawn to those who think life is a joke. I say that because this book is about a girl named Kesha and she has lost her boyfriend, Andy, and he died because he killed himself, and why did he kill himself, well thats because he felt guilty for killing his best friend named Robbie Washington, because he was driving a car drunk, with Robbie at the front seat. Now for those who think life is a joke, I want to see you in front of an extreme flames on it with someone you love burning to death, then another person you loved goes and kills himself.

message 14: by Yamil (new)

Yamil Cifuentes | 40 comments Well, ever since I read Katherine Paterson's realistic fiction Bridge To Terabithia, I would recommend this book to Sherman Alexie because "Bridge to Terabithia (BTT)" and "An Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian (ATD)" have a lot in common. The protagonist from both books had somebody they love and they lost them. In BTT, Jesse had a good female friend and she died from a rope stunt. And in ATD, Arnold lost his grandma, his dad's best friend and his sister and they all died from the cause of alcohol. If Sherman Alexie reads this book, he might say "Man, BTT have a lot in common with ATD. I hope this author is not ripping off from me."
