If you had to recommend this book to anyone, who would you recommend it to and why?

Please consult your rubric and models to ensure that you are doing your best work!

• Write a topic sentence that provided the title, author, and genre of my text?
• Provide context of what is happening in the text, so my reader understands what I’m talking about?
• Find a direct quote from the text that proves my idea?
• Thoroughly explain the significance of my quote/how it proves my idea?
• Check for correct punctuation and spelling?

Monica | 43 comments The fantasy book, Betrayed, by P.C Cast and Kristin Cast has given me many insights. Zoey's almost-boyfriend is already in a monologue speech contest with the all star poet from the House Of Night, Loren Blake. Currently, there was a parental meeting, Zoey's hateful parents came and they completely humilated her in front of the powerful high pristess, Neferet. At the parental meeting,Zoey also saw Aphrodite's parents and they turned out to be awful! They slapped her and wanted her to be perfect, and Zoey suspected that Aphrodite still wants to be leader of the dark daughters after she had taken over them. Now, she is being extra careful of Aphrodite. Another time Zoey's old classmates had dies of a terrible murder and Loren Blake, the powerful professor, had touched Zoey all over. Zoey feels weird and ashamed at the same time. "Well, I didn't take my shirt off, but I slid my jacket down. Actually, he helped me." (72). This quote shows how professor Loren Blake's feelings are very strong for her and he actually wanted to touch her. This book is a very romantic book and I recommend all yound couples to read this book. We all know love can come in the future and the lesson "love" comes very strongly. For people in this class, read this book to find out Zoey's feelings and life to deal with 3 different guys at the same time. This will be a big problem for teenage girls in the future.

In Walter Dean Myer's realistic fiction book called "Monster", the protagonist is 16 year old Steve Harmon who is being decided in court if he is guilty or not in a murder case. Steve had been arrested in jail for so long until today when the judge can see if Steve is the murder. Along with the case, tons of people have been in this case that lead to the action of killing Nesbitt who was the drugstore owner. Steve's friend King was the determined one as of now as the killer, Many in the court believes that he was the one who used Nesbitt's gun to kill him. That has been also a case on the taken cigarettes on the scene of the robbery. This book shows tons of teen intense actions. On page 7 (Pages Different on Nook), "Early morning in CELL BLOCK D, MANHATTAN DETENTION CENTER. Camera goes slowly down grim, gray corridor. There are sounds of inmates yelling from cell to cell: much of it is obscene." This part from the beginning of the book shows how the mood of the book will mostly be. As you can see from the quote, it is has strong scary words that can frighten young children. The book also has some bad influences of doing bad things and lying that can change a child's life badly. Therefore, I would recommend this book to children over twelve. The book can be bad for young children, but when they turn twelve, they can start to learn about how teens are these days. This book can be a bad influence at times, but also fun to read for older kids plus it has some intense moments.

Jack Brill | 41 comments In the book " The Captain" by Ian O' Connor the main character is Derek Jeter and I would recommend this book to alot of people because Derek Jeter is has a very inspiring story and is a good leader which also makes him a good role model he also teaches people certain life skills he used to chase his dreams of playing in the MLB(Major League Baseball) and how people can become anything if they set their mind to it. Ever since I was a little kid Derek Jeter has been my number one role model when I was a kid I always wanted to be like him even when I bought a baseball mit I would buy one that looked like the one he used

Mark | 33 comments In the fantasy story The Death Cure by James Dasnher the protagonist Thomas is unfocused sometimes. Thomas and the other gladers including group B, Jorge and Brenda have made it out of the Scorch and no they are in the base of WICKED and they are all going to get disinfected from the flare a dieses that slowly turns someone crazy. Also they are going to get their memories back and find out things that are unspeakable. Thomas, Minho and Newt are preparing to escape the base but they need to wait for the right moment and they had a perfect time to escape but Thomas was so unfocused that he blew it. A quote that shows how Thomas can be unconfused at times in the book. “C’mon Tommy lets go with them, fine ill go with you guys. As we approached the room I saw six beds and Brenda the guards let us go and walked off dude lets go this is our chance Minho said, Thomas Brenda came screaming, are you she ran over and hugged me. Ok dude lets go Newt snapped, the guards approached the door and secured it nice going shuck face.” This shows how Thomas is unfocused at times because he had a perfect moment to escape and instead he stood their looking at Brenda and embracing her welcome back.

Elva C. | 40 comments In the fantasy book, Chosen by P.C Cast and Kristin Cast, the book is about a teenage girl named Zoey, and her life as a vampyre fledgling. In the 3rd book of the series, House Of Night, Zoey's friend Stevie Rae has rejected the change, of turning into a vampyre and has died. Continuing from the second book, Zoey finds out that Stevie Rae is not dead and she is still alive, but not herself. Now, it is Zoey's birthday. After meeting up with her grandma, she sees Stevie Rae at a garbage dump. Zoey was so happy, even though Stevie Rae was acting different. "...You're my best friend. I'm not going to move on"(45). When Zoey finds Stevie Rae, she was so happy, even though Stevie Rae hated her now, and didn't want to be with Zoey. Zoey knows that she doesn't act that way and that she has a good part of her left. When Stevie Rae was yelling at Zoey that she is not her best friend, Zoey didn't leave and become all sad. She was determine to help Stevie Rae go back to becoming her old self. This is the reason that I would recommend this book to young adults because things like this happens to them about friendship, and they can relate it with this book. Also I recommend this book to young adults because this book can have bad language in it.

Ivan (ivanski711) | 30 comments In the book The Warrior Heir By Cindia W. Chima my protagonist is named jack and by the way the book flows and the layout i would definatley recommend this to my good friend Teddy. During this time in the book my protagonist is going through training as if he was a warrior but he is half warroir and half wizard so it is hard to uunderstand but once you got it then you are going to recall some of the characters from the past text. Now Jack doesent no what to do with his life he all confuised trying to find out wher he truly belongs. " So i'm a wizard but i have a warrior stone inside of me?". This quote proves that Jack is lost and dosent no what raice he is, yet he continuse to traind in both areas just in case he turnes out to be one or the other.

Steven Lin | 27 comments In the non fiction book, Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes by Eleanor Coerr, the book is a true story about a girl named Sadako Sasaki. She lived in Hiroshima, this book takes time at the atomic bombing. Sadako Sasaki had fallen prey to the atomic bombing and had developed leukemia from the radiation of the atomic bomb. She is kept at a hospital making origami an paper cranes. She is inspired to make a thousand paper cranes because according to a Japanese legend if one had made a thousand paper canes, then his or her wish wold be granted. She wanted to live so this was her wish. Thus she spent her time making paper cranes at the hospital. However she was only able to make 644 paper cranes before she has became far too old and weak to make any more. Later she had died. Her friends and family helped her complete the rest of the unfinished 356 paper cranes. Therefor I would recommend this book to people that are interested in books that have to do with World War 2. This book is really touching has has many lessons to learn from. This book had a great impact on many people.

Melanie M. (MissMello) | 21 comments In the realistic fiction book "The Fight" by L.Divine, The book is about a girl's life. School,Relationship Drama and more. JayD had a boyfriend named KJ and he has broken up with her for this other chick because she wont give him what he wants (Cookies if you know what i mean), He is just a plain jerk and him and her go to the same school so hey you never know whats going to go down and plus that chick he been messing with might go to that school to now you know there is a total drama line there because that chick now wants to fight her and saying KJ is off limits i am so glad i dont have drama like that in my life. Her bestfriend Misty and her had just become nemesis ever since her and KJ been together.

Essam Alhumoz | 20 comments In the fiction book "Marked" by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast the protagonist is Zoey Redbird, and she has just started her first day at The House Of Nights. Zoey has just met her new roommate Stevie Ray. Zoey has just reached The House Of Nights, and she has already heard many bad things about the Dark Sisters. "Her, stuck up flock of sycophants." This quote shows that people are already feeding Zoey with bad thoughts about the Dark Daughters. I don't think this is a good idea because once she finally meets them she won't have other thoughts than the ones she already has. I think this is a very big problem that teenagers will have to face a lot in high school because of the fact that everyone are gonna be passing around rumors about other people, and the new kids will get bad assumptions about them.

Ramsey (TheRamsey3000) | 7 comments In the book "Island of the Blue Dolphins" by Scott O' Dell, Karana has just seen a ship coming toward the island. She is afraid it may be the Aleuts so she is going to hide on the south part of the island with her pet wolf Ramo. The Aleuts are people who come to hunt otter, but they are bad and if they see her they will try to kill her. As she is leaving to get her cano she notices that the ship doesn't have red sails as the Aleuts did, it looks more like the ship that her people left on to go to the strange country. Once she sees a man come to the beach she sees he is calling out to her. A storm is starting up so they can't here her call back. She grabs all her things and runs to the shore, but the people leave before she reaches it. "I run into the water and wave my hands to signal to the ship, but it's no use, they slowly turn away leaving me on the island". I feel very bad for her that help almost came. I think the book is great so far and that the story is very interesting.

Ben Friedman | 25 comments In the book ”The Hate List.” By Jennifer Brown, The main character Val and her boy friend Nick create a list of the people they hate and the things they hate. Not thinking much about it Val doesn’t think of this list to be that series. But one day in the cafeteria there was a mass killing of people and the person behind the gun was Nick. Nick killed all the people in the list and by accident shoot Val in the leg. At the end of the killing Nick turns the gun around and commits suicide.
I would recomnd this book to anyone who enjoys an action pact thriller. Because they talk about mature matter along side with action such as the shoot and Val being in the hispial. In addition o would recommend this bok to someone who expresses their hate for someone and says they are going to act upon their hatred. Because it shows people what something like that can tune out to. That is why I would recommend this book to theses two groups of people.

Matthew | 34 comments I just started reading the fiction book, The Bully, by Paul Langan and so far I would recommend it. The book is about a boy named Darrell Mercer who moves to a new home in California. He has to go to a new school and doesn't want to. I just starting reading the book but from the following paragraph I think I will like it. "Trying to ignore their conversation, Darrell could think of only one thing -- he hated California already. He hated it." I know that in the book Darrell will have to deal with a new life, a new school and a new bully. Already in the book he hates California. I can't wait to see what happens in the following pages to come.

Trinity Burgos | 31 comments In the book Ophelia Speaks by Sara Shandler, this book is mainly how teenage adolecent girls talk about how it's like in woman hood and what differnet kinds of struggles they go through in life. I would recommend this book. One of the reasons why I would recommend this book would be because it's about different stories about teenage girls and what struggles they faced in their lives and most teens today I think might be going through the same situation the why it might be going through. It also can help teens feel better about what struggles they are going through in their lives because it can let then know they are not the only ones going through the same situations they are going through. Also, most of these stories that are in the book are very common in teenagers lives today.''Adolescence is not what I thought it would be. Happy endings aren't inserted conveniently before the last commercial break.''(3). So far this text shows that teens at this age are starting to notice what it's like in the process of developing themselves. Also, finding out from different sources such as this one.
