Books I Loathed discussion

A friend urged me to read this book assuming I would enjoy it. She claimed it reminded her of Prep, which happens to be my favorite book. I understand this book won several Canadian awards but honestly it left me scratching my head. The book never went anywhere, which I assume was the author's point. Am I the only one who didn't get it?

I thought it was awful too...I read it thinking I would need to read it for grade 11 English (but it was substituted for something else), and I absolutely loathed it! Nomi was despicable...she spends the book wondering why her mother and sister left, and all I could think was, "I would leave you, too!"

An aunt I don't really care for asked for a book by the same author for Christmas...now I really understand why the two of us don't get along!
