Mishma From Vampire Diaries to Twilight, from Hex Hall to Hunger Games. You'll have to agree that love triangles have been a part of nearly every single YA book nowadays. What do you think about them? What's your favourite love triangle?

message 2: by Mishma (new)

Mishma I personally think that love triangles add spice to the romance in books. It's fun to watch the hero getting jealous or the heroine getting confused. But at the same time, love triangle can be exhausting, like Vampire Diaries, when the heroine starts to juggle two boys. And especially when you start to like the third character more, like I did in Vampire Academy, you start to hate the girl in the triangle.

My favourite love triangles are:
1.Adrian-Rose-Dimitri
2.Gale-Katniss-Peeta
3.Daniel-Luce-Cam
4.and the legendary triangle of Rhett-Scarlett-Ashley

Same here,Panda.I don't know where I changed from Team Gale to Team Peeta.

Amanda (pandwen) | 81 comments one of my fave love triangle's would have to be (the love square?) from the host Ian-Wanda-Jarred-Melanie just because until the end there was no happy way for it to resolve

message 6: by Mishma (new)

Mishma I didn't write it because I can't actually tell whether it's a triangle or a rectangle.
But I loved it so much too.

Amanda (pandwen) | 81 comments well i see it as 2 love triangles... that are joined... and only use 3 bodies

Kate Winchester (katewhitetigerlover) | 85 comments i really hate love triangles!!!! like i pulled out all my hair in tiger's voyage because i was so angry at kelsey for doing that to ren...!!!!1 UGHHH!!!!!

i never got that katniss loved gale, they were just friends with benefits (the kiss, there was only one, but the triangle in twilight was pointless to me...

Talk about love triangles be complicated.

I agree with the twilight one.It was completely unnecessary.Just made me hate Bella more.

message 11: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (pandwen) | 81 comments I think love triangles are kind of necessary in love stories that take up more than one book. When the focus of the story is the romance you need something to threaten that. even if they are a bit of a cliche cookie cutter feature now days

message 12: by Mishma (new)

Mishma I agree with Panda.

message 13: by Kate (new)

Kate Winchester (katewhitetigerlover) | 85 comments well, i know they are nessecary for you to feel even more attatched to certain charactersa dn repelled from others, but they frustrate me to death!!! and i also know they happene veryday, but still, they annoy me to no mercy!!!
i agree, panda. you put it very eloquently. a cookie cutter.

message 14: by Pavithra (new)

Pavithra (komorebi27) i think love triangles are great. they add a twist to the romance in a book. i love thinking about whose side im gonna be on and stating the pros and cons of them both and choosing one though its never like that. when you like one u just do.

message 15: by Blue (new)

Blue Iris I agree with Pavithra.

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

I sometimes hate them... But then again some stories wouldn't be intresting enough without a love triangle. Like right now I'm reading a book that just NEEDS a love triangle.

I think that love triangles can be interesting and good - when used in the right book and context, but when it's drawn out, and is the only thing that happens in the book *coughTwilightcough*, that's when I start to hate them.

Amanda (pandwen) | 81 comments ellie in all fairness imagine twilight without the love triangle... there would be nearly nothing left. and i admit my favourite of the books is the one where the love triangle comes to it's point. eclipse.

I see where you are going, but I absoloutely DO NOT like Twilight. And you said there would be nearly nothing left in Twilight without the love triangle. Correction. There would be nothing, because the evil vampires never would have gone after Bella if she hadn't interacted with Edward and his family. If there was no love triangle, Twilight would be about a girl who moves to a town where it rains alot. Now I know it's MEANT to be a romance book, but really? Think about it. It's probably MOSTLY (not all) teenage girls who read twilight. And, I can't remember which book/movie it's in, but I remember seeing Bella jump off a cliff after Edward breaks up with her. She does it because whenever she does something like that, she hears Edward's voice. Well, that's just a GREAT message to send out to teenage girls, isn't it? *note my sarcasm*

Twilighlt is just a book filled with icky, over-used romance, and boring characters and a put-me-to-sleep-worthy plot.

Now, if you like Twilight, I don't agree with you, but I will respect your opinion.

Mishma Woah Ellie. Now that's a speech of the year.
Anyway,I agree with you though. That book's total rubbish.I feel ashamed of liking it when I read it.

Yep mishma. Being school captain and being a year younger than everyone else on the debating team but still kicking their asses, it teaches you a thing or two about writing speeches. :)

message 23: by Amanda (last edited Jan 15, 2013 09:21PM) (new)

Amanda (pandwen) | 81 comments heh i enjoyed twilight when i first read it but not so much anymore. i am glad i read it because it introduced me to the paranormal romance genre. and i wasn't talking about removing the romance just the love triangle. and yes i never liked how obsesed bella was either. edward and bella's relationship is one i would run screaming from. my only point was that a love triangle can be the basis of the entire plot of a book.

on a side note. phrased nicely to create no offence thankyou for your politeness. can tell you would be a good debater.

Panda, i am glad that we can both voice our opinions without our conversation getting heated. Thankyou for being so polite about it. :)

message 25: by Mishma (new)

Mishma I was the same as Panda.I read Twilight when I was ten, nearly eleven. At that time it was so fascinating. And like you,Twilight is the book which introduced me to the paranormal genre.

message 26: by Amanda (last edited Jan 16, 2013 02:14AM) (new)

Amanda (pandwen) | 81 comments lol yeah i was young and in my defence i was stuck in bed with a broken foot and so couldn't go to the library last book i had left from last time was twilight

message 27: by Mishma (new)

Mishma Looks like Twilight made a base for our reading though it's not so good.

Amanda (pandwen) | 81 comments Surkhab wrote: "Twilight is the first book that I read. I started my book reading career from it. That's the only reason I read all the four books. I don't like it now, though....."

in many ways twilight has become a must read even if you do not enjoy it. it is the launching board for so much else and is even being refrenced in childrens movies (hotel transylvania) [...yes i still watch kids movies]. not to mention even if i am not a fan of the books anymore there are still sections that i love. i just don't want to read the entire book to get to them.

message 29: by Mishma (new)

Mishma Agreed.

message 30: by Pau-pau (new)

I definitely agree with this. I don't like love triangles most of the time. It's just annoying and a bit exhausting at times.
