The Lets Turn Pages Challenge
Duration January 1 – December 31, 2013

We are always making goals about how many books we want to read in a year. How about we make a goal for number of pages we want to read!

*Make a goal of number of pages you would like to read.
*Read as many pages as you can in one year.
*Since you probably don’t know what you want to read for the entire year, make your list as you go. (Be sure to post the number of pages in your book!)
*Rereads will count for this challenge, but you have to read the entire book…no skimming!
*Have fun with this challenge…let’s turn a bunch of pages this year!

30K, i love it! I've postulated 800 books, so that would be, let's see, 1600-2400 pages.:)

So far in 2012, I have read 13,037 pages. I think I'll set a goal of 15,000 for next year.

I track my pages here on Goodreads, if you go to your profile page and click on "Stats" you can get the number of books read and the number of pages read. Note from Goodreads regarding stats:

Goodreads says I have read 37,500 pages this year. I have a ton of BIG books to read next year (500-1,000 pages each), so even though I lowered my reading goal, I think I will set my pages goal for 40,000.

Kelsi I am pretty sure they do because some of the books I read are ebooks.

Some do, some don't - not all the ebook versions of books on GR have a page count listed, which means they don't get counted in.

I just read an ebook in which pages were not counted, so for those of you who do read ebooks keep in mind you may have to account for that.

If you have a book in which pages aren't there, but you know how many pages there are (some ereaders have a scale on the bottom of the screen that says __ out of ___ pages read), I'm pretty sure Kara, or any Goodreads librarian, can help you out with that by adding the number of pages to the edition... I may be wrong, but it doesn't hurt to ask! Ask her if she can here.

Page numbers on ebooks are super tricky, and Goodreads hasn't really come up with a good solution for it.

The official response from Goodreads is:

First preference: an official page count for the ebook from the publisher. This is sometimes, but not always available.

Second preference: If the ebook is a fixed-page format (which PDF certainly is and ePUB is supposed to be), then from the ebook itself.

After that, it gets sticky.

Now, audiobooks. We cannot add page numbers for audiobooks (only the number of hours), so we will not be able to count audiobooks for this challenge.

Thanks Kara! That's too bad. I didn't think about it, but I guess if you change the font size it can be as many or as little pages as you want!

I would love to join in on this challenge and try to read 7,500+ pages.

I'm doing something with a blog challenge but it's really small. I don't mind doing this one for a larger amount of pages.
I'm at 46,532 books right now and that's 173 books. Since my goal is 126 books. for 2013... I'm going to also go for 30,000+ pages.

Im in 8,000 pages. I don't want to be all crazy ambitious or anything.

So far this year I've read 4712 pages, so I think I'm gonna set my goal to 5000 too. That's pretty good for me lol.
