My parents were always quite relaxed about horror growing up, so I probably watched one too many certificate 18 films in my formative years! I also have an older brother who’d regularly go out of his way to tell me ghost stories and scare the hell out of me (there were many incidents: The Scream Mask Chase, The Blair Witch Babysitting Blunder, The Abandoned Cemetery Investigation, The Hanged Man in the Attic, and many more).

Familiarity breeds acceptance, and acceptance turned to a love of all things scary and strange.
