I have this book on my shelf and I have been wanting to read it, so I will join in on this buddy read!

Excellent! It has been on my shelf for months also. I like the cover. I am not sure what it's about yet (haven't read the synopsis)

I only gave it 3 stars? Wow, I was a harsh rater that day! LOL! I think I may have docked a star because the pacing was slow at times and sometimes it was a little confusing but I loved the concept and I thought the characters were great!

looks like there are 16 chapters, 329 pages

so....7 chapters gets us to about 110 pages...

too much? too little??

If we read thru chapter 8, stop at chapter 9, it gets us about 1/2 way...

what do you think? less?

yeah, wow, this is a pretty heavy ready so far!! I'm kind of glad I'm reading a lighter book with it!

Yes, we do read the emotional ones together!! And I'm so glad we do. The tough ones, they are nice to share and talk about the tough stuff. a way to process it all.

Just finished chapters 1-6. Wow! This book is definitely heavy. I feel so bad for her! (view spoiler)[She is going through so much and what she is doing to herself is down right scary! I kind of like Guy, though, I'm a little upset he didn't tell her brother. Would've been the right thing to do. Hopefully, he will have an affect on her at least! I foresee her stopping for him :)

Oh, and I agree with you guys about her surprise offer. Like really?!?! Sex in exchange for secrecy.. What was she thinking! Think she would of gone through with it? What'd you think of his reaction? I have to give him props on the way he handled it. Respectable guy! (hide spoiler)]

Ugh, I hate that he didn't tell anyone but - you know. I can totally see it! some guys like to save & protect women. I don't know that he's one, but I think he thinks he can keep her safe. I hate that he did that...but I wish I could say it was unrealistic. I hate that I could totally see a young man doing it! :(

Yes!!! Telling her to stop talking was perfect! It was EXACTLY what need to be said at that moment. Poor girl hardly has a shred of self respect left.

I agree, unfortunately, I believe it really does happen that way more often than it should. Young adults often keep secrets they shouldn't.. Sometimes, because they believe they are protecting the person in some way and others... I don't know. I don't know why he didn't say anything. He seems smart enough to know he shouldn't try to fix it himself. Ugh! A little frustrating. Though, maybe he is trying to be her night in shining armor.. Like you said. We'll have to see what's going on there.

alright, I just finished through chapter 11 (stopped at chapter 12)....

but in all honesty, I think I just have to finish the book today. I didn't expect this to be so heavy for me but it is. Continuing to read this book is like a complete struggle of willpower. I want to stop and leave Willow & Guy in their world of mess....

so I think I'm just going to muscle through it.

I can't blame Guy for not telling her brother. I am not sure if I would do the same given the circumstance, but telling David might make it worse. Just look at what Willow's willing to do to keep her secret, and what else would she do when David finds out the truth?

I must say, after the crazy proposal earlier in the book... I shouldn't have been shocked by the sex scene. BUT I totally was! I really didn't think there would actually been a sex scene. Lol. Not to mention, it seemed kind of random. I could see it as being comforting after she was crying.. But they barely knew each other. I don't know.. Am I crazy? Lol

Though, I did find the whole 'why I have a condom' thing kind of cute. Not that he had one.. I mean the guy is a senior, why wouldn't he have one? But him saying he saw more than a girl who cuts in the science lab. Sweet :) And, I definitely felt heart broken at the end when she shut down his hopes of things changing. Poor guy. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I thought the sex scene was a little off but it seems like it was the right age range, I guess, for a sex scene. I was more worried with the idea that Willow could just "fix herself" I wasn't sure how I felt about that message. OR the idea that she was moving one addiction to another : cutting to Guy. The sex just seemed to correlate the addiction trade off theme...

But I agree, I was SO glad that Daniel and Willow got to finally talk. She misunderstood so many things it was hard to read just how off she was!! I'm so glad he set her straight!!

What did you think of Andy?? He seemed like an odd distraction in the book. What do you think he and Chloe added to the story? I kept trying to figure out why they were in the book/story line! lol (hide spoiler)]

These are the times I really enjoy buddy reads.. Where else can I complain or rant about a book? Lol!!

Oh! I thought Andy was very annoying! I am not sure why they were in the book either! They seemed useless. I think the ONLY reason they were there is for the big restaurant scene.. Which, really, we didn't need anyway. Book filler maybe? I really dislike book fillers like those two. Chloe, MAYBE, for the girl to girl stuff with Willow..but Andy, no way! (hide spoiler)]

Yes! I agree, Gisbelle. Quite an awkward book really..

:) A few days ago I talked to one author and she said some editors and publishers kinda force the authors to add steamy scenes to attract more older readers.

As for Willow, the sex was a bit random. Maybe the author was told to add it also :)

Yeah,I found her a bit annoying too. I mean, it seemed like she knew better you know and chose to drown herself. I mean I get that she felt guilty and everything.. But she didn't do it for that. I totally agree! Well, it was a painful memory and she kept blaming herself for that. What I didn't like was that she didn't deal with it even at the ending, she still kept thinking of cutting herself again. That's a bit pathetic.
