The Black Ledge series is a MG/YA magical adventure series.
Available on Amazon: amzn.to/T8RuvZ
Book I, The Keeper and the Rune Stone:
An unholy ritual, a ticking clock. Four children discover there are things that go bump in the night ...
Centuries ago a group of Elves committed an unholy ritual. But the ritual was a spectacular failure. It transformed the Elves into the Noctivagi - the beings we know as vampires.
Striving to maintain a fragile peace, the ancient Elves and Dwarves negotiated an Accord, which they've renewed every year on the Summer Solstice. The ceremony depends on the magical Rune Stone, but it's missing. If it is not found—and quickly—the consequences could be dire, and not just for Elves and Dwarves.
Four children, Rob, Jack, Eleanor, and Flora, stumble into a world of magic and mayhem when they move into Black Ledge, the old estate on the Maine coast, and discover they aren’t the only ones who live there. The Keeper and the Rune Stone

Almost three years after the “storm” the government came out of their bunkers, the leadership had changed drastically though.
Five years after the “storm” and the remaining populace have had to fight just to survive. Many have lost their lives in the subsequent days and those that remain, stand together and take care of each other. “Clans” have formed where there used to be towns and they are governed by a clan “head” or “chief”. Duncan Mackenzie is one of these clan heads in a small town just outside what’s left of Boston, Massachusetts. He and his men find food, water and supplies to keep the rest of the 1000 plus members of his clan alive, anyway they can. This includes foraging, bartering with other clans or if they have to, stealing it from what remains of the old government.
Now the military has been ordered to get the clans back under control, and they’ve sent a new commander to get the job done.
As if surviving in a world with little fresh water or food wasn’t hard enough, the remaining populace has to now deal with a tyrannical government trying to regain its long lost control.
After the Storm 1&2 for those of you that need some action and adventure to go along with the end of the world! http://www.amazon.com/After-the-Storm...

In Nights on the Run, Princess Saffie must flee for her life after she makes an unforgivable mistake, and then falls in love with an ex-commando on the run from a Honduran crime boss. They've found true love, but they might not live to enjoy it.

As a descendant of James Monroe, I did extensive research at the James Monroe Museum in Virginia about him and his wife Elizabeth Kortright Monroe. I also visited their home, Ashlawn/Highland in Albemarle County.
My visit to Ashlawn/Highland, James Monroe's home in Albemarle County, was both enriching and enlightening. It not only gave me an opportunity to experience the beauty of the area but also discover some of the historical information I used for The Beautiful American. Located only a short distance from Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, the house is well preserved and offers a glimpse into the lifestyle of the landed gentry of eighteenth century Virginia. With no indoor plumbing and a rustic kitchen below the main living area, it was elegant and functional for its time but gave me a real appreciation of the household hardships of the period. The surrounding outbuildings provided housing for the slaves and the land's crops supported the family's basic needs. Farming, weaving and candlestick making were all an integral part of the Monroes' working plantation. Touring the Monroes' actual home gave me a feeling of deep connection with my own historical past. The Amazon link is : http://www.amazon.com/The-Beautiful-A...

"I knew it the very next morning, and I still know it now: My brother hates me. He has removed me from his mind, stricken away any thought, any memory about me. I am dead to him. The scary part is, that being dead will not stand in the way of him killing me, if ever he lays eyes on me again.
It is an odd feeling. Have you ever faced it? Being dead to someone you envy; someone you miss, too; someone who knows you intimately and, even worse, has the chutzpa to occupy your thoughts day in, day out. It grinds down on your nerves; doesn’t it?
Trust me, being dead to your brother is not all that it is cracked up to be, but it does set you free—oh, don’t act so surprised! It frees you from any lingering sense of obligation. Brother, you say to yourself. What does it mean, Brother? Nothing more than a pang, a dull pang in your heart.
You have betrayed him. Accept his hate."
Yankle, in A Favorite Son

My retelling of the biblical story of Jacob and Esau takes the time to concentrate on two things: the contemplation of the crime, and the mental anguish afterwards. Here is another view of my Ceramic sculpture of the character. It is called "What if my father touches me."

-- Taylor Polites, author of THE REBEL WIFE
"At first glance it resembles THE KILLER ANGELS and COLD MOUNTAIN -- and its artistry rivals those great novels. But it explores a deeper heart of darkness than even the shambles exhausted surgeons have to deal with after Gettysburg. A terrific achievement . . . but not for anyone who faints at descriptions of the violence of battle or the sufferings of the wounded."
--David Poyer, author of A COUNTRY OF OUR OWN and THE SHILOH PROJECT
It is the summer of 1863, and the greatest battle ever fought on American soil is in full tilt. Southern Pennsylvania has become one great grinding stone and thousands of dead or dying are its grist. In this tilted landscape, reputations are made, careers are ruined, and men and women are driven to the brink in the wake of two armies intent on killing one another. Yet opportunity is everywhere...
For the privates and officers who fight the battle, it's a kill or be killed world, with salvation or damnation just a bullet away...
For the surgeons laboring over the many wounded, opportunity knocks at the bloody tables, where the price of a man's life is all too often an arm or a leg. The cost to the surgeons, however, will be even higher...
For one undertaker in particular, the dead are a canvas, and his ability to make a body reflect the living individual is nothing short of uncanny. For Jupiter Jones, the burgeoning dead themselves are the opportunity...
And finally, for one teenage former slave, alive only because his father had the courage to bury him, opportunity comes in the form of a ten-year-old boy with a creel and only one shoe, who may or may not be a ghost...
In the summer of 1863, humanity itself is under siege. What happens amid the carnage and human flotsam of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, will be unholy, unnerving, and all but unbearable, with only this certain: not one among them will escape unscathed.
Here, for the living, hell is in session.
And for the dead, it's the devil's own day.
Read the five star reviews at Goodreads, Amazon, and Bn.com.
The unique thing about NOT ONE ABOUT THEM WHOLE is how it is informed by my time in the trenches as a surgeon, as well as the vast reading I have done on the history of the Civil War. My father was a veteran of WWII and an amateur war historian, and I grew up surrounded by hundreds of books on military history. I read many of these and my father constantly spoke of the history he had both lived and read.
I write with a style that is both immediate and intense, bringing the reader onto the battlefield and into the field hospital. I try to write in much the same manner as a fire fighter telling of his time inside a burning building. We all know it'd be hot inside that building, but what about the sparks burning through your clothes and biting at your skin, the close sweat stinging your eyes until blindness threatens, the raspy sound of your ventilator with every suck of breath you take. How about the feel--cool? refreshing?--of the oxygen blowing into your face mask? And what does the fire sound like? Can you hear anything else? Your own pulse maybe?
I believe anybody with an interest in medicine and surgery, or who likes shows such as Law & Order or CSI will like this book. If you've ever wanted to 'open the door' to see what goes on in the operating room, this is the book for you. If you've ever wondered what it would have been like on a Civil War battlefield, look no further than this book.
If you are the kind of person who might like being a voyeur in the emergency room, even for just a short time, you'll find much of what's here interesting, even compelling.
Yet, despite all of the intensity alluded to above, there is a certain grace here. The writing is, simply put, beautiful.

If you like thrillers featuring strong heroines, I will send you a free copy of my $3.99 book,

I have a new book coming out in the next couple of weeks called Love Love, and I wanted to post a few short excerpts. Enjoy, and thanks for all of your support! :)

“But sometimes, I feel like something's missing, and I can’t quite put my finger on it. That little something extra. Excitement. A challenge. An adventure. Maybe I should bungee jump off of the empire state building or run naked in central park. Nah, that would just be plain crazy, and I'd get arrested. That wouldn't end up well. Unless there was a hot guy dressed in a uniform fingerprinting me. Then it might just be worth it.”
-----------------
“His touch does strange things to me. It makes me feel things. Things I'm not supposed to feel. Things I can't allow myself to feel. It's like his fingers are strumming my heartstrings, pulling, plucking, twisting, and I'm helpless. Completely and utterly helpless.”
Beth Michele

"I loved this book. I love to find a story that you can get lost in, become a part of and spend the afternoon reading.
Linda Moore Kurth wrote this book "from the heart". The charaters were so very real and when the story ends you just want to sit back and sigh. Ah yes this story of family, love, and understanding is what makes a good read for me and I hope that you will read this story so you can see the talent of this author."

It's a definite ★★★★★ book... you can see the reviews for yourself and be the judge. Take a look at it... it's a great dystopian fantasy for young adults

I appreciate that Susan! Thanks!

From its great characters to its twisted plot, Boomerang is lots of fun. The humor and quirky characters are reminiscent of "The Big Lebowski" while the frenetic pacing brings to mind "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World."
For the month of April all author proceeds from the sale of Boomerang are going to support student outreach by The Musical Instrument Museum.
Thanks!

Lady Charlotte ‘Lottie’ Bellhavan is dubbed the runaway bride after calling off her wedding on the eve of her marriage just a week before Christmas. Her best friend, Sophie has the perfect hideout for the beleaguered society belle, her childhood home, Tything Manor.
Lottie won’t be alone for Christmas at the isolated Northumbrian manor house, Sophie’s older brother, Ranulf, the reclusive Earl of Craigmore will be there too.
Rafe is aware his unconventional looks and retiring nature won’t win any beauty contests but with the magic of the Christmas season and some judicious matchmaking from the meddlesome Sophie it might just be Christmas Ever After for Lottie and Rafe…
And here’s a taster
Charlotte picked up her mobile phone as if afraid it might bite her. She puffed out a sigh of relief when Sophie’s number showed on the screen.
“Are you okay, Lottie?” Her friend’s anxious voice reached her as soon as she accepted the call.
“I’m fine. I don’t think anyone will look for me here.” She tried to sound confident. Sophie was on enforced bed rest thanks to raised blood pressure caused by pregnancy and Lottie didn’t intend to raise her stress levels.
“Phew. I’m glad you got out of London. It’s ghastly here. I’m afraid Tom’s done exactly what you said he would do. The story is all over the press.”
Nausea rose in Lottie’s throat. “I’m not surprised. It’s what he knows, isn’t it? I don’t suppose it paints me in a very good light.” She tried to keep her tone cheerful even though she wanted to weep at the unfairness of it all.
“I made Henry bring me the newspapers. The headlines are all variations on a theme. ‘Society belle abandons fiancé at altar,’ etc, etc.”
Lottie pictured Sophie propped up in bed on a mountain of pillows wrinkling her pretty nose up in disgust as she spoke. “It wasn’t at the altar. It was the day before the wedding.”
There was a rustle of papers as Sophie replied. “I know that sweetie, and I know you had very good reasons for calling the wedding off. I just wish you’d let me tell the rest of the world about some of them.”
Lottie swallowed down the lump in her throat. She was so lucky to have Sophie as her friend. “It’ll blow over soon enough I suppose.” At least she hoped it would. She was glad that she was safely tucked away in Northumbria, out of the glare of the press spotlight. Tything Manor was well off the beaten track and few people knew of her connection with Sophie’s childhood home.
“Rafe should be with you later today, he called in to see me on his way from the airport.”
“The house is all ready. Food is stocked up and the oil for the heating was delivered
yesterday.” She tried to remember when she’d last seen Sophie’s older brother, Ranulf.

Here's the blurb:
New technology, new choices . . . but who gets to choose?
Conjoined twins Gordon and Johnny have never let their condition keep them from living full and fulfilling lives. Gordon looks forward to many years of closeness and cooperation. Johnny, however, faces their future with increasing restlessness, even dread.
When the boys are in their teens, the new technologies of accelerated human cloning and brain transplants are combined into a single medical procedure -- Transplant to Clone, or TTC. Someone whose body has suffered such extensive damage as to make normal life impossible may -- with court approval -- be cloned and then given a brain transplant into the clone body. With Gordon's unwitting assistance, Johnny realizes that the TTC procedure provides the chance he had never dared to hope for -- the chance to live in a "normal," separate body.
But Gordon considers their conjoined life a blessing, rather than a curse. He has no intention of accepting separation -- not without a fight . . .
