Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Why or why not?

GOVERNMENTS CAN ONLY BE SUCCESSFUL IF THEY HAVE A SYSTEM OF CHECKS AND BALANCES.

i disagree. some governments only have one ruler who rules and they've lasted for awhile

but those are monarcys, dictatorships, and totalitarian rulers, so the people dont get 2 make ne choices

True, but that isn't always bad, I mean monarcys and such would be a great system if your one leader was a good one.

Just look at early civilizations. There were times when there was only one emperor and there was peace for a long time...

yeah. If only those would work. I mean it's fabulous when they do, cause they do for a while, but then someone in the line screws it all up.*shakes head saying, 'Shame, Shame, Shame*

ya but in the U.S. we Elect some1 n if they rnt doin their job we empeach them u cant do that with a king or queen

but it is harder. cause they have power over the army and what not, plus other countries that live near by with monarchies are bound to help in fear that their people would do the same to them, but if they show them that they themselfs can't be beat, people don't revolt.

Because everyone was repressed for fear of being imprisoned. If people don't have a way to control the government, then it can get out of control.

Some governments might not be successful no matter what.
