Hope Flies on Broken Wings
Book Description:
A brutal world does not tolerate innocence for long. The poignant tale of a naive young girl's first love affair with the lonely and troubled son of an evil man. Collie is the middle class daughter of a tinker and she unexpectedly loses her heart to Dugan, a young fisherman. Collie tries to follow her heart despite the disapproval of her hypocritically devout mother and the bigotry of the townsfolk around her. Dugan, meanwhile, is torn between his love for Collie and his knowledge that their relationship is dangerous for her. Then comes the night that changes everything.
A story of dramatic love and equally dramatic loss, see through the eyes of two innocent, but defiant adolescents. Its simple medieval setting brings to light many of the societal issues of today, including domestic violence, child abuse, bigotry, class segregation, and religious intolerance.
