PS - This is what the state of New South Wales' interactive fire map looks like right now. Canberra is in the Australian Capital Territory.

The home team wins one!"
How nuts is it that you would have to get something like that vetoed state by state?

Wow. Nice work Seattle.
It drives me crazy that everyone in the U.S. is flipping out over 2nd Amendment rights, but don't seem to be bothered that 4th, 5th, and 6th Amendments are being taken away.

Thanks Susan! It's on Tuesday night, (for the Australian members).

From my home country today:
Killer Dome of Heat Engulfs Australia!
Summer in Australia just gets more and more intense, as an unprecedented "Dome of Heat" covers the continent..
The Bureau of Meteorology has had to add new colours to the temperature charts to indicate record maximum temperatures! Oh, and did I mention half the country's on fire?

Almost ten years ago today, Canberra was devastated by bushfires which destroyed around 400homes and killed several people. Right now, their fire risk status is at "Catastrophic" (yep, that's now an official rating too), and it's looking eerily similar to the way it was before the fires hit in 2002. I'm glad I'm not there anymore - I've never been as scared in my life as I was then.
Meanwhile, the place I've moved to, which is known for cyclones and floods around this time of year, plus extreme humidity and heat...... is one of the cooler places in the country, and without a single fire alert. Bizarre!
