This folder is to announce a new or upcoming book, and introduce it to the group. Please don't post books more than FOUR months old. and YOU MUST include a description. Also, a link to the book is allowed, and sales info can be included, but...
ANY BOOK SIMPLY PROMOTING A NEW RELEASE SALE WILL BE MOVED TO THE SALES FOLDER.

Post your book as a new topic within this folder. I've closed this thread to anymore new comments.

That would count a a new book, since you are re-releasing it.

I have re-released this due to putting on a new cover and changing a few bits - It isn't showing the new cover though - will update that asap. Does this count?
Thanks

Yes, if a book has been re-released, it counts.

Sheila | 97 comments Would books released just before Christmas still count as new or is that pushing it?

I'm not being too picky about the timeline, posting a book that's been release two or three months is fine. I'm just laying out guidelines so books six months or a year old don't get added to the mix.

Thanks. Will get to it then, with thanks for the opportunity.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 135 comments First, a big thank you for making this available to independent writers.

Then, help! I tried to post a picture of my book cover to go with my posting entitled Kindle Release. Instead of my cover, a picture of me appeared. Er... must be doing something wrong - again!

Can someone help please? :)

Is the book listed on Goodreads? Because the easiest way I know to add a cover pic to something here is to use the add book/author button.

Ah - that is the problem! I have not listed it on here yet. Well, not in the right place by the looks of it!
I'll have a hunt around and see if I can find the right place to list it, but if you can tell me before I fall asleep, that will be great. It's getting late this side of the pond.

Books need to be added manually if they're not listed. Here's the page: http://www.goodreads.com/book/new
I also suggest getting an author profile by joining the Goodreads Author Program.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 135 comments I am so sorry to be so thick. I have followed the link and entered my book details but I missed the box where I should upload the cover photo. On top of that, I can't find how to upload my photo on my author profile.

Thanks for your patience.

These sites can be confusing. Goodreads does have a reasonably good help section though: http://www.goodreads.com/help

You will get more views if you post this as a topic in the folder, not here in the comments.

Lee Holz A.F., I don't know if the folder is too full to permit more topics, but I'm not seeing the "new topic" button at the top right of the folder. I wanted to post as a topic but couldn't. If this is a bug, please report it to GR.

I can see the button, so it's probably not a bug. Try it from this direct link and see if it works: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/group_...

message 20: by Lee (new)

Lee Holz A.F., the link worked and I reposted. Thanks. I have run into this problem a time or two before in folders with tons of topics, but not recently.

Virendra Rathore (virendra1984) | 3 comments The Sharp Mile
Hello Friends,

I'm happy to share with you that I've written and published last weekend, a story (fiction) themed in terrorism and special forces.

'The Sharp Mile' is a thrilling voyage canvassed in an Indian city. At the outset it nose dives into a terrorist attack, of unprecedented intensity.
Its characters witness moments that blossom like fragrant flowers; and horrors of unabated violence that could scar a sole deeply.
Pitched in battles between terrorists and saviors, many lives are thrown at crossroads. Some would change forever.
From the burnt ruins of peace, struggle of its protagonists; this story brings out a message with triumph. A message that is worth reading.

A one day Free Giveaway is organized at Amazon, from May 30th 1 PM IST to 31st 1 PM IST. Do grab your copy without fail.
Book page - http://www.amazon.com/The-Sharp-Mile-...

The eBook can be accessed even without Kindle device via the apps like 'Kindle for PC'.

It would help me a lot if you could let me know of your valuable review, at the story's Amazon page, here or via a post/article at your site.
Looking forward to it. Thank you

Regards,
Virendra

As I suggested, it might work better to post your book as a new topic, not here as a comment. Things tend to get lost in comment threads.

message 26: by Jim (new)

Jim Power (jimpower) | 4 comments When a fellow writer said that I should write a western novel, I found the idea intriguing. Then I did something I've never done before. I let the novel write itself.

Let me explain. Everyday I started at 8:30 a.m., merely sitting at the computer with no outline and no idea what would happen. I was determined to watch the novel unfold just as a viewer would watch a movie. And that's precisely what happened with my novel, Blaze. The novel wrote itself. All I did was tap the keys.

It's odd, you know, because I was thinking about Edward Snowden at the time and there is a theme in the novel about the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

There is also some historical and painful information, along with a scorching hot love story. Check it out sometime. For some readers it may seem a little odd, but others will get it.

- Jim Power

Jim Power sometimes writes under his pen name of Summer Newman, including the novel, Blaze. He has been published internationally by 60 magazines and newspapers, including by the Smithsonian Institution and by many of the top outdoors magazines in North America. He has a long history of publishing fiction, from dozens of short stories in New York magazines to seven novels in 2013/2014. He studied Honors English at Saint Mary's University and majored in Russian Literature at Dalhousie University before becoming a writer. In his youth he hitch-hiked tens of thousands of miles.

If you post about your book as a new topic within this folder, you may get better notice than posting it here in this thread as a comment.
