Stacy (stacylienemann) My pick is Netherland. I feel like race and 9/11 are weightier subjects that romance and storytelling. Of course, I've read neither.

Jennifer | 31 comments I'm giving it to Netherland, purely based on the hype I've heard about it. I haven't gotten a chance to read either of these yet, though...

Steph | 10 comments I haven't read Netherland, but I did read and HATED A Partisan's Daughter. For that reason alone I'd simply want Netherland to win. Throw in the hype and acclaim it's gotten, and I think Netherland is the clear choice here.

Stacy (stacylienemann) Wow. An upset! I guess the judge would be surprised to read our comments. Of course, no one seems to have read Netherland.

Jennifer | 31 comments It's interesting that Remainder was brought up from last year in comparison to Netherland. I ended up reading it because of the tournament, and really enjoyed it, so I'm going to have to check Netherland out.

Pang (goonghaeng) | 5 comments Just finished with Daughter. Couldn't believe it won. I think the judge didn't really like either book, so he gave it to the one he least dislike.

It doesn't matter... I think it will get knock off in the second round.
