Aliyah Does anyone out there loathe Jodi Picoult books? Can't stand them because they are so clichéd. Her first books were initially great, but morphed into mindless drivel. Nowadays I think she tries too hard to be "different" in her prose.

Worst of all, I can't stand her female characters in her recent work, its like they're all carbon copies of Bella Swan-spineless and whiny.

Of all her books, which do you loathe the most?

John Conolley (john_conolley) | 56 comments I've picked up one or two of her books in the bookstore, but I soon put them down again. They're from boredom.

hahaha, but her older books were good. Her recent stuff is just junk worth throwing in the recycling bin. Some of her topics are not even accurate.

Janet I started one and stopped. Junior high school girl level soppy drivel. At least she gets people reading.

Billie Turknett (billieturknett) | 1 comments I read two of her books, Mercy and A Change of Heart. I liked Mercy but, I hated A Change of Heart. It was all over the place and I'm not sure I can even explain it...it tried too hard to convince you that your religious view was wrong or misplaced in someway. She might as well have written a book about how not to believe. It also tried to make you feel like the mother was wrong for accepting the heart. It really irked me but, maybe that is because I'm Christian and took it personally.

Maggie | 32 comments I read My Sisters Keeper - it was okay, didn't make me want to go out and read any more of hers though.

alisha (alishafarkas) | 6 comments I've only read one book by Jodi Picoult, "The Tenth Circle." It's been a long time since I last read it, maybe 5 years, but I can remember the gist of it. The characters were unrealistic, though not two-dimensional like any of Stephenie Meyer's characters. In fact, they seemed almost too complex, as though Picoult decided, "Hmm, this plot is really lacking...let's toss in some crazy for our characters." There's a fair deal of running around all over the place and anticlimactic revelations, leaving a sour taste in my mouth and a desire to freshen up with a reliable J.K. Rowling novel (at least any of the Harry Potter series - I have yet to read The Casual Vacancy or The Cuckoo's Calling). Thoughts?
