This year I thought I would try some challenges. Let's hope I haven't bit off more than I can chew!

5. Personal Diversity Challenge: 20% of my read list (exclude children's books and short stories)

My background is White/Caucasian but I try to broaden my horizons beyond that point of view. I noticed last year that I was doing a fair job picking books for my children's storytime that were diverse (20% authors or protagonists of color) but that I was falling short in my own reading list (5% authors or protagonists of color). So this year my goal is to step it up and match my children's ratio (20%). Then we'll see if it makes sense to increase one or both ratios in the future. (At some point I'm hoping it becomes second nature so I don't have to keep track!)

I updated all of my lists today. I'm about halfway on all of them (way ahead on personal diversity challenge), which is great since it is only May!
