Fabulous list! I love how it includes Asian authors as well as Anglos :-)
What are the numbers in parentheses after the title?

Page count? Great list!

Pik Lin (piklin) | 8 comments As Hayes said, it's the number of pages for the copies that I own. ;)

Very impressive list! Hayes & I love The Count.

Sylvia (sylviahartstra) Absolutely a fabulous list. You picked up some very lovely books, like the neverending story and sophie's world.

Grada (BoekenTrol) (boekentrol) Great list!!

Stephanie Griffin | 50 comments The Time Traveler’s Guide to Medieval England sounds great! Just added it to my want list.

Pik Lin (piklin) | 8 comments Thanks! The Count was actually the first book to make it to the list. I was very sure I want to tackle it despite its sheer size. ;)

Pik Lin (piklin) | 8 comments Thanks! I have very fond memories of the Never Ending Story movie as a child and I only found out it was a book much later. Now that I obtained a copy of it, it just has to be read. ;) As for Sophie's World, it was added due to my growing interest in philosophy. I'm definitely looking forward to read them. :)

Pik Lin (piklin) | 8 comments Thanks! :D I'm really pumped up to get through these books now. ;)

Pik Lin (piklin) | 8 comments It's nonfiction though but it's also one of those highly recommended books for anyone who is interested in that period. :)

I remember seeing the title of

The Time Traveler's Guide to Medieval England: A Handbook for Visitors to the Fourteenth Century
mentioned in the newspaper some time ago. I've added it to my wishlist TBR. Thank you for reminding me.

All those pages go flying by, however. I really recommend spending the money (if your library does not have it) for the robin buss translation, the penguin edition. It's worth every penny.

message 15: by Pik Lin (new)

Pik Lin (piklin) | 8 comments No problem. ;) I heard a lot of good things about it too.

message 16: by Pik Lin (new)

Pik Lin (piklin) | 8 comments Yup. That's the edition I own. I looked around for recommendations for the best translation available for the Count and received a unanimous answer. So I picked up a copy a while ago when it was available, I just need to get around to reading it before the year's over. ;)

Did you ever tackle The Count of Monte Cristo? I had starting listening to an award-winning audio edition of the book a few years ago and made it through half way. I stopped, however when life got in the way and unfortunately never picked it back up. I have a print edition as well, but those 1000+ chunksters tend to get pushed back :-/
