As a linguistics related area this folder is dedicated to the fun one can have with words. This specific topic of course is linked to fun with words. Imaginary words, words that didn't exist until linguists thought them up. Quirks with words. Little things linked to playing around with language.

Feel free, as with all the folders, to make your own topics!

Jonathan Peto (jonathanpeto) When the earthquake and tsunami struck Japan on 3/11/11, many people were a little bit unsure of how safe Tokyo was. The news about the radiation was not exactly reassuring. Some people headed further south to Osaka or even out of the country for a time. It was dubbed an evacuvacation.

Perhaps that word has appeared in other places where people evacuating were not exactly refugees.

Mathom, one of those Old English words redefined by Tolkien. I think it definitely beats using 'junk' or 'trash'.

Rafael da Silva (morfindel) Tolkien was a remarkable linguist. He was very good playing with words.
