The Privilege of Youth: A Teenager's Story
In Dave Pelzer's autobiography non-fiction The Privilege of Youth, I would recommend this novel to . In the novel, Dave was at school and describe himself 'sort of trouble' which actually gets him into huge problems. Dave was at 1st period of class and saw the boy and met him and his friends. Dave was the new kid in town which is a bad thing. One of the boys tricked he that his classmate that is a girl who liked him. Dave was excited and confused. The boy said you called them a horror. Dave was very confused. The boy said Girls like that. So Dave went along and said it to his classmate. He said "Hi.... You are the prettiest-looking horror I've ever seen, (20)." The girl was ignoring him. He was wondering what went wrong and figured it out. This quote shows that Dave was talking to the cool boys and made a huge mistake and took their advice. This proves the author's experience because he didn't knew everybody because he was new to the school and was prank/tease by the other kids and was ashamed. Therefore, I would recommend this novel to any teens out there who need help with situation and need advice from the author's experience.

" I am a girl. I am an Asian American girl. For a time in my life I was just an American girl and shortly after that I was just an Asian girl" (76). This quote shows that sometimes people don't know what they are in life. Everyone is making them be someone they aren't and so if you read this book you can see that you should always be what you want to be instead of changing yourself to be like the people around you.
