How long is each class? We have 4 90 minute classes, starting at 7:15 and ending at 2:15. We have 8 classes each year, as you switch classes every semester.

Jane (smallinabigworld) | 63 comments I think it should either stay like it is, or they should have longer days, like with school until 4 or 5, with more vacation days. Or, like it used to be when people had tutors come to their home, you could have school everyday other than Sundays and Holidays, and only have halfdays everyday. I would like the last solution best, because it gives us a continual ability to learn, instead of having us forget so much over weekends and holiday breaks. If this happened to be what it was, however, there would be several other things to think about as well, such as gasoline prices for driving kids to and from school, electrical bills, teacher and aid paychecks, and many other things that would have to be taken into concideration. However, if it was a private school that you had to pay to go to, that would take care of the issue of price, and you would be able to learn a lot more, as well as higher leveled subjects, especially if more involved students were able to stay after school to take extra classes on certain days.

42 minutes...that's a really nice time frame for classes.

★RavenclawReader★ (stargazer101) | 36 comments At my school, school starts at 8:50, and it ends at 3:50.

★RavenclawReader★ (stargazer101) | 36 comments My state is talking about lengthening school days, because they think kids will do better on tests that way. But for most people, a longer school day would make you unfocused.

Oops... Why did I never..."

40 minutes are how long my classes are. And then I've minutes in between each class. We have five core classes, and two electives that aren't really electives because we can't pick them...
So, no.. don't think school should be shortened, but it shouldn't be longer either. My school starts at 7:30 and ens at 2:00

Lucky! Mine are 90 minutes, but I've only got 4 a semester, usually 2 electives and 2 core classes.

Yeah, my dad takes me to school, and, although I live about 5 minutes from the school, if I rode the bus, I'd be leaving my neighborhood at 6:27.

message 13: by Jane (new)

Jane (smallinabigworld) | 63 comments at my school, we start at 8 and end at 3:30. Most of our classes are 1 hr and 30 min, but some are shorter.

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

From 8am-->2pm my school runs. From 7am-->8am there's an optional study hall (which you have to go to if you ride the bus). Approximately 90 minutes per class for three classes and a 45 minute class at the beginning of the day. We have 7 classes total but we have 3 one day and a different 3 the next with 1st period staying the same.

Personally, I think schools should run longer but for the next few hours it's free study hall so when you get home you have no (or very little) homework. It's enrichment and it still has the same use but then you have more free time when you can use it.

TOTALLY hate my school T.T

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

My school goes from 7:55 to 2:28 with 8 classes and lunch. For our high school it is the same, but you have 4 classes per semster.

message 18: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (turwaithielgreenleaf) | 17 comments I am English, so our school starts at 8.40 (for form time) and ends at 3.30. But because I have to go there on the bus, I leave my house at about 7.50 and get back at about 4.15. We have 3 100 minute periods in the day, but some lessons such as humanities are split into half lessons which are 50 minutes long. I like this schedule, as the day as a whole goes much quicker with only 3 periods, but the lessons seem to drag on for ages. As for the teachers, most of them teach really well, and I learn a lot, but for some lessons I have either bad teachers or teachers that do not specialise in the subject. For example I have 2 different English teachers for RE, and one is great, but the other doesn't care at all for the subject and cannot help you out because they "do not specialise in that subject".

message 20: by Oliver (new)

Oliver (oliverthereader) I am in High School and my day is from around 8:15 to around 4:15. We have hour and fifteen minute to hour and a half classes a day depending on the schedule (the way this works is we have the same four classes each day and every five weeks you take different classes. This happens seven times each year. Hopefully that made sense). I think that having a long day allows for in depth discussion, however it does tend to get tiring after a while, especially if the subject isn't my favorite. In general I think that the length is good as it is.

I like how my school is we start at 8:35 and end at 3:40. We have 7 50 minute long classes and home room is 40 minutes.
