So a little about me. . .lets see. . .I'm addicted so reading, and since this addiction is pretty intense I have switched my ways to only trying to read books that are listed as free. Let me tell you, reading can get pretty expensive. I let myself buy one to two books a month, so I don't end up to limited in what I find. But I have found a practical treasure chest of books in the free listing sections. Not to say they are all good (refers back to the werewolf, vampire problem I'm having).
Other then that, and to not get to personal, I have a small family and a cat that is off the chain amazing. I have recently started to get really into reviewing book, not so much over here. . .I kinda forgot this website existed for a long time, and I'm trying to fix that by reviewing the same books over here. But I have a short attention span sometimes and well, it might never get done.
Here is to hoping I can get some good recommendation on all those horror books out there.

Welcome, Mercedes. I too do not like the "werewolf that runs on all fours", just looks like a big dog to me. LOL. I prefer "The Wolfman look".

Welcome, Mandy. LOL...our little group seems to have drastically grown over the past few weeks. I think we need a third moderator.

Welcome S.B.. We're glad to have you with us. As you can see, you can promote your books if you wish on here. "Taste of Silver" has a good ring to it. LOL.

Welcome, Julie or "Jewls". I love Stephen King and Laurell K. Hamilton too. I wish you luck with your career. I have to be honest, I feel like this group is blowing up as soon as I signed on as mod. It's a lot for me to handle and I think I'm going to ask the people in the group for a third and fourth moderator. But, back to you, Julie. I believe we do have an Author Promotions folder, so you can promote your books there. And we're very happy to have you with us and wish you the best of luck.

I came here for the book suggestions. :)

I'm Louise. I have just published my first book Mina Harker: The Curse of the Vampire on Amazon. I like to write, read and blog. I live in the UK in a small city called Wakefield. I enjoy writing mainly for the horror genre but I will try my hand at anything.
Here's a description of my book:
Seven years after the eventful night that Mina was almost turned into a vampire, she is now happily married to Jonathan Harker and has a lovely son called Quincy until her past comes back to haunt her.
Mina’s life is thrown into turmoil as a gypsy sorceress with a hidden agenda casts a spell from the book of the dead to bring Dracula back from his grave.
Mina’s worst nightmares are unleashed as her husband and child are brutally slaughtered and she is reborn with a bloodthirsty appetite and dark vengeance.
Seeking revenge and to be reunited with her loved ones, Mina battles against all odds and survives into the twenty first century, until a handsome stranger arrives to document Mina’s life who is not quite what he seems…
Mina Harker: The Curse of the Vampire is a compelling sequel to Dracula, which also acts as a standalone story. Bringing back the old characters and adding new ones to create an emotional, action packed modernised fantasy from Mina’s perspective with an added twist at the end.

New to GR and joined this group after scanning the others. Why? Have a question for the ladies but guys are welcome to respond.
I got tired of seeing all the ooh's and aah's, and fluttering hearts every time a monster (take your pick which one but I'm a werewolf kind of guy) appeared on print or screen. C'mon, they're monsters !! They're supposed to evoke fear, horror, and dread. You know, quake in your boots and drop a load kind of stuff.
I decided then and there the genre desperately needed a revival/update/restoration. I popped over to Amazon and searched for 'werewolf' to size up the competition. Every cover and title there had a goo-goo eyed female giving her best come hither look to some fashion model/metrosexual posing as a vicious lycanthrope.
So, how did werewolves go from being fearsome, terrifying creatures to lusted after sex objects ?? And yes, honesty does count. :-D
Glad to be here !!
Rafael

Thank you so very much for your time and response. I think "paranormal romance books have become all the rage" restates more succinctly my original premise. Yes, they have become all the rage.
My question, perhaps inelegantly posed, is why?? What is it about vampires, werewolves, et al women find alluring, attractive, compelling. Yes, we have our pinups but they won't drain our jugulars or tear off limbs! What insight can we men gain from the fairer sex who so willingly fantasize immortality for inflicted violence?

I'm new to the group, for finding new reads, as well as shameless self-promotion, which I will limit to the appropriate areas of the group!
Looking forward to getting to 'meet' you all.

Have you read any of these books? I believe the answer is that the authors have a way of making these shape shifters super sexy. It's all about the personality and physical descriptions of the main character, who are usually very heroic. I'm not very good at explaining, lol, but perhaps if you read one of these it might become more clear. Most are romance and/or erotica.
Stacie ;)

"can't ever seem to find a half way decent werewolf book, mainly because I'm soooo tired of reading about some buff dude smelling/seeing/tasting? some delicate human girl that ends up being his mate."
Until midnight, 10/15, They Cried Wolf is a free Amazon download. This is not your father's werewolf. I cordially invite you to enter the world of Diego Constance.

I've looked through several of the discussions in this group and like the topics.
I looked for this group as I'm an author and an Irish werewolf wound his way into the series I'm currently writing. More on that in the author section.

Wow! Look at this group. The trifecta of Horror. I’m Joe and I’m glad to be here. Hello to you all.
Is there actually anyone here at even given time. I’m beginning to wonder. Was it something I sad. Lol

My name is Joey Kelly (pen name Julian Michael Carver).
I am a creature-feature novelist. I have two novels out through horror publisher Severed Press (known for their monster stories).
Triassic is a time-travel sci-fi adventure, featuring a group of galactic marines that get stuck in Earth's past and soon realize that the dinosaurs may not be their only problem.
Megacroc is a horror novel set in the Everglades, featuring a shadowy monster that stalks the residents of a local housing development project. When the police and coast guard are brought in, the authorities come to the conclusion that their may be a primordial monster on the loose.
The books are listed on my profile. If anyone wants to grace me with reading my stories, please leave an honest review on both Amazon and Goodreads! I would greatly appreciate the feedback.
A sequel to Triassic is in the editing stages, and will be followed hopefully by a prequel for Megacroc!
Thanks everyone!

My name is Sylvie Helstaff and I'm a monster romance author (and avid reader of monster romance, horror, sci fi, and fantasy).
I have two books out now:
Shadow's Light is a spooky/cozy monster romance set in a small town featuring a fmc who gets a great deal on what she assumes to be a haunted house. But the shadow demon living inside isn't thrilled to have a new human in his domain.
Shadow & Flame: Shadows of Graymourne Book Two is the sequel to Shadow's Light, a historical m/m monster romance that delves into the past to tell the story of a charming witch who summons a shadow demon for protection amid the looming threat of discovery in his colonial village and gets more than he ever bargained.
I love to hear from readers, so if you read my stories, please leave a review on Amazon and/or Goodreads! I'm an indie author so comments and reviews are super appreciated!
Looking forward to meeting folks in the group and finding new books to add to my read list.
