Lauren (marguax) | 4 comments I find that my favorite PRN don't take place in modern times, but I'm finding it hard to find these books because they don't have a specific genre that I know of. Any recommendations would be so helpful!
The PRN authors I've enjoyed in past are...
Colleen Gleason
Gail Carriger
Jacquelyn Carey
Shana Abe

Thats really all I can find!

PS I also read YA fantasy and enjoy those 'time period' books

Joseph (bluemanticore) | 216 comments A must read IMO is Deborah Harkness's All Souls trilogy. The first, A Discovery of Witches, takes place in modern times, but in the second, Shadow of Night, the main characters go back in time to Shakespeare's day. The third is yet to come.

Also, Amanda Quick's Arcane Society takes part in the past, part in the present.

Mia Marlowe's Touch of Seduction trilogy takes place in Regency times. The three books in it are: Touch of a Thief, Touch of a Rogue, and Touch of a Scoundrel.

Theresa Meyers's The Legend trilogy is a PNR that takes place in the Wild West. 2 of the 3 books are out so far: The Hunter and The Slayer.

Michelle(Chelle) aka Nightshade - Cake Whisperer (michmag) If you like your PNR historical on the erotic side you should try.... Blood Red (Blood #1) by Sharon Page .

I've just discovered the Immortal Brotherhood series (they are non-traditional shifters). I really enjoyed the first book and can't wait to get to the second one.
Immortal Warrior (Immortal Brotherhood, #1) by Lisa Hendrix Immortal Outlaw (Immortal Brotherhood, #2) by Lisa Hendrix Immortal Champion (Immortal Brotherhood, #3) by Lisa Hendrix Immortal Defender (Immortal Brotherhood, #4) by Lisa Hendrix

I also enjoyed the steampunk "Iron Seas series" by Meljean Brook. Love the first two books & got the 3rd one line up for next month.

message 15: by Georgiana (new)

Georgiana Derwent (georgianaderwent) | 18 comments I'm not sure I'd call it paranormal romance as such (there is a romance - vampire woman human man, unusually - but the focus is definitely on the wider plot) but Anno Dracula is set in Victorian times, then it's sequel, the Bloody Red Baron is set during World War One. It starts off with Dracula marrying Queen Victoria and goes from there. I wasn't sure I'd like it, and it's probably not for everyone, but in the end I found it absolutely amazing - can't stop recommending it at the moment. Anno Dracula (Anno Dracula, #1) by Kim Newman

I love history and there are some fab recommendations on here that I'm now desperate to try out.

message 16: by Erin (new)

Erin Latimer Soulless (Parasol Protectorate, #1) by Gail Carriger <---this series is SO good. Paranormal romance/steampunk. I loved every book.

message 17: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (marguax) | 4 comments Awesome Thanks Everyone! This is why I love Goodreads!

message 18: by Harlequin Books (new)

Harlequin Books (harlequinbooks) | 57 comments Here are some of my favorites.

An older Regency Vampire miniseries by Colleen Gleason you might enjoy is A Book of the Regency Dracula: The Vampire Voss, The Vampire Dimitri, and The Vampire Narcise.

For something a bit different, you could try Knight of Runes in which the heroine travels back in time and a druid wants to protect her.

And another series I really enjoyed was Heather Graham's Vampire Hunters: Night of the Wolves, Night of the Vampires, and Bride of the Night.
