Jan (janarzooman) Even if someone is giving his or her book away for free, I won't download it if it's not in a genre I enjoy, if it seems cliched, if the cover looks horribly slapped together or--above all of those--if there is a typo in the promo copys. Free books may get someone noticed. This may be someone's big break. Or it may earn them a bad reputation. I think all books should be copyedited or at least proofread, but I understand if some writers can't afford that. A typo in a 400-page book is forgivable. A typo in 400 words of promo copy, or in an author's profile, is not.

Melanie (aka DarkBeauty73) (darkbeauty73) I agree with you Jan, I like free books and all but unless it is something in a genre I like I don't and wont download it. As for the typo have yet to notice anything of yet in the free books I have downloaded but I usually on get free books through Amazon or directly from an author that has a few books under there belt.

would you eat it?

L. Vanhorn (lillyvanhorn) | 1 comments I agree Jan, I'm the same way. To me the cover, promo, synopsis, everything should reflect the care the author put into the entire novel. If it is lacking, then likely the book is as well and there are too many good books in the world waiting to be read.

It would depend on the degree of my hunger.

And by the way, My Bosom Bodies (Mina's adventures) by Maria Grazia Swan will be a Kindle free book on January 31 and February 1. Sorry, couldn't help myself.
