Johan Harstad’s purpose of writing this book was to offer a new perspective to the suspense genre of books from a new point of view. 172 Hours on the moon is based on teenagers who get the suspense of spending 172 hours on the moon on the moon base DARLAH 2. 172 hours on the moon basically teaches us that we should not go to a strange place even if it is sponsored by some renowned company or agency because many things can go wrong. This book gives the reader a thrilling ride because it always keeps you second guessing on what might happen next. This book is new take on the suspense genre of books by making the main setting on the moon. The story is one of the most thrilling suspense books I have read up to date.
172 hours on the moon is a well written book and provides a detailed look and introduction of each main character in the book. The characters are well developed and make the whole plot of the book interesting. The story was very understandable and very easy to read. Here’s an example of how well punctuated this story is. “The man nodded at an enormous billboard over the shop across the street”. “Don’t forget the deadline, eh?”(page 39) he said to Antoine. There were no grammatical errors in the book.
The book was very captivating and once you start reading it, you wouldn’t want to drop it for a second. It doesn’t fail to entertain. It can keep you glued to the book for hours and you might not want to let it go. It’s very entertaining and it never fails to grasp the mind of the reader. That is one of the things I like about this book. It keeps me coming back and wanting more. It fills all plot gaps and never leaves you hanging. “Do you want to go the moon?”(page 39) is one of the interesting questions asked to the characters in this book.
The greatest strength of this book is the character development. It walks you through the life of each character as they introduced in the storyline. It was pretty consistent in getting to know each character and building up tensions in the storyline. It even went to a point when one of the consistent was warned not to go on the trip to the moon and she ignored it. “That’s the stupidest thing I have ever heard,” said Mia (Page 11). That was how Mia was introduced. The Buildup of tension started when Mia refused to go on the moon trip.
I would definitely recommend this book to a friend. It is a very good book with a lot of tension, suspense and drama. It has all the qualities of a good book. I would definitely rate it an 8 out of 10 stars. It is very understandable and is very mind-blowing. The author definitely did a good job on this book. The plot and everything is intact.
