D.G. | 2752 comments Hi Team!

For those of you who don't know me, I'm D.G., 36, married with no children. I also live in NYC.

I can be the Captain if you want. I have a spreadsheet ready from the last time.

I'll send a friend request to those that aren't my friend already!

LOL!

What about team names? I like something with Tentacles:
(but you are talking to somebody who used to be called Medusa by her friends.)

Deadly Tentacles
Crazy Tentacles
etc...if you can come up with other adjectives, feel free to add

Obviously though, anything with Tentacles needs to be nasty. No 'Sweet Tentacles', LOL!

message 8: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Sadly we can't have twisted tentacles cause that was the winning team name for R6 Bingo.

Tickling Tentacles
Terror Tentacles
Tingling Tentacles

message 9: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments Oh that's true! Then maybe we should go with something else so as not to repeat ourselves and all that. :)

message 10: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Well I do like the ten - tentacles thing.

Unless we work on Deka - ancient greek for 10 ie decade etc?????

message 11: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments Another good idea. :)

What about Tenacious? We could be

Tenacious Ten (sort of boring though)
Tenacious Hellions
Tenacious Flirts

message 12: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Tenacious Terrors

message 13: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann | 1220 comments *waves* Hi team!

I'm Steph Ann (I also answer to Steph). I'm 30, divorced, and live in Illinois with my two cats, one of whom likes nothing better than to try to play with my Kindle while I'm attempting to read. :)

D.G. gets my vote for captain!

As for names, I'm not creative at all (plus I haven't had caffeine in over a week thanks to a bout of the flu, so my brain just isn't functioning normally), but of the ones suggested so far, I like Crazy Tentacles, Tenacious Flirts, and Tenacious Terrors. :)

Oh that's a good one!

Not only are we terrifying but we keep at it, LOL!

message 15: by Isha (new)

Isha Hi Team! I'm Nikita. 21 and I live in New Zealand.

D.G. also gets my vote for captain and I like Tenacious Terrors and Tenacious Flirts.

message 16: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments *waves to Steph Ann & Nikita*

Nikita you're just over the ditch from me :D

I'm Sandra, and I'm from Sydney, Aus, married, no kids, retired from work, living on 5 bush acres, and I love, no I need to read!!

message 17: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments DG for captain sounds good to me too!

I'm Lis, from Missouri but now live in Pennsylvania, married with 2 kids. I do Marketing by day and turn into chauffeur, cook, coach and mom after 5. We are in basketball season now so I keep my kindle charged and get an amazing amount of reading done during practices and activities.

message 18: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Glad to see you survived work Lis :)

Any more ideas for names?

message 19: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments I like Tenacious Terrors

Could play off the "Fantasy" Fast and Fantastic

When I see all the Tentacle talk all I can think about is LKH's Meredith Gentry series and Lord Sholto and all his night flyer tentacles and the special things they can do...

message 20: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments I read one book in the Meredith Gentry series and it was enough for me. :D

message 21: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments I've got a couple of them but never tried 'em.

message 22: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments D.G. you need to post on the Q&A thread that you're the Captain :)

message 23: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann | 1220 comments I remember reading a few Merry Gentry books and liking them. Then I got distracted by the many other books on my TBR pile, and at this point, I'd have to start over with book 1 to refresh my memory on the plot. I may get around to it some day. :)

I figure I'll post once we settle on the team name. :)

message 25: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments So here are the two most popular team names...Sandra which one do you vote for?

Tenacious Terrors (4 votes - D.G., Steph Ann, Nikita and Lis)
Tenacious Flirts (3 votes - D.G., Steph Ann, Nikita)

No need cause I'll do the name when we decide, but I can't edit Steph's post.

message 27: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (last edited Jan 24, 2013 04:07PM) (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments I vote for Terrors, more hard-core than flirts.

OK, I'll change the name then. LOL.

message 28: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments I just didn't want Steph to get in here twice but I forgot you could edit the post (duh!)

I'll post in the Q&A. :)

message 31: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments But I wouldn't be surprised if I end up picking something different that what's in there, LOL!

message 32: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Love it. I haven't had time to do that yet, but I was gonna!! RL is a hassle at the moment, though hopefully next week will be better.

message 33: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann | 1220 comments I created shelves for each color and have been going through my TBR list to put books on each shelf. :) I think purple is the one I'm having the hardest time with.

message 34: by Lis (last edited Jan 24, 2013 06:05PM) (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Yay! we have a team captain and a team name...

DG nice start with the cover search. There are a few I've read of your TBRs that were 4s and a 5.

I think it will be pretty easy to spin thru a kindle to color hunt. Only problem is making sure it has 200+ pages. For us USers will the reading start on Saturday? Just so I'll be time watching for the color selection I think this is going to be fun... Sandra it's kind of like your monthly challenges.

message 35: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Yep, just weekly instead of monthly.

message 36: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Sandra off book topic question... What is the weather like in Sydney end of July early August? Our school is featuring a educational trip in a couple of years for New Zealand, Australia, Fiji but our seasons are opposite and just curious how cool it is then.

message 37: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments I think my most difficult color so far is yellow. Now that I think of it, that Brainrush cover seems more orange than yellow.

Thankfully I'm in a classic mystery kick and some of the most popular authors have dozens of covers per book.

message 38: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Here's a few yellows I spotted on my shelves
The Emperor's Edge (The Emperor's Edge #1) by Lindsay Buroker Nightfall (Dark Age Dawning, #1) by Ellen Connor The Darkest Surrender (Lords of the Underworld, #8) by Gena Showalter Beast Behaving Badly (Pride, #5) by Shelly Laurenston Dark Destiny (Dark, #13) by Christine Feehan Hexed (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #2) by Kevin Hearne Summer Knight (The Dresden Files, #4) by Jim Butcher When Pleasure Rules (The Shadow Keepers, #2) by J.K. Beck Return of the Warrior (Brotherhood / MacAllister's #7) by Kinley MacGregor Darkness Calls (Hunter Kiss, #2) by Marjorie M. Liu Coyote's Mate (Breeds, #18) by Lora Leigh

message 39: by Isha (new)

Isha Here are a few of my yellow books

Seven Nights in a Rogue's Bed (Sons of Sin, #1) by Anna Campbell Kiss Me If You Can (Bachelor Blogs, #1) by Carly Phillips His at Night by Sherry Thomas When Seducing a Duke (Victorian Soap Opera, #1) by Kathryn Smith Shades of Gray (KGI, #6) by Maya Banks Royal Seduction (Royal, #1) by Jennifer Blake Affaire Royale (Cordina #1) (Language of Love #35 - Honeysuckle) by Nora Roberts The Heir (Reid Family, #1) by Johanna Lindsey Where Dreams Begin by Lisa Kleypas He Loves Lucy by Susan Donovan

Sandra | 25908 comments Lis wrote: "Sandra off book topic question... What is the weather like in Sydney end of July early August? Our school is featuring a educational trip in a couple of years for New Zealand, Australia, Fiji but..."

Lis, July is the middle of winter so in Sydney expect (from Bureau of Met):

avg 8C to 16C (46F to 61F) add a couple of degrees for August. Rainfall - 3 inches avg for both July & August, about 11 days for each month.

If you need anything else just give me a yell :)

And wow on the yellow covers - pretty sure I'm lacking that many yellow ones.

message 41: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments Where Dreams Begin is my FAVORITE book by Lisa Kleypas (and I've read like 20 of hers) and probably one of my favorite romances ever.

message 42: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann | 1220 comments Does this look purple to anyone else, or am I crazy? It's quite possible it's the latter. :) Demon Moon (The Guardians, #2) by Meljean Brook

I'm trying to see what I have already loaded up on my Kindle ready to go.

message 43: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments Yup...purple.

Sandra | 25908 comments Yep, definitely purple, I've got the MMP :)

message 47: by D.G. (last edited Jan 26, 2013 08:00AM) (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments Hey ladies - Would you say this is yellow or orange? Smokeless Fire (Fire Spirits, #1) by Samantha Young I'm sort of leaning towards orange but I don't know. ;)

I have to read this book for another team challenge I'm in but now I'm afraid that we'll get either orange or yellow so maybe I think I should wait until this afternoon to start it just in case. :)

I put it my currently reading shelf yesterday but didn't even read ONE page - was finishing an audiobook - so I'm good to go. Meanwhile, I'll just read one of the Ilona Andrews novellas. :)

message 48: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann | 1220 comments I would say it's orange. That's what it looks like on my phone anyway. :)

message 49: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments I think I can make a better argument for orange.
