I'm changing the group challenge this year. I don't know how many of you have heard of Mr. Schu's Stress-free Newbery Medal Challenge (#nerdbery on Twitter). Please see the link on his website for the specific guidelines. Basically if you have a goal to read all the Newberys in your life, in any order and at any pace (1 year? 4 years? 20?), this is the challenge for you!

NOTE: Goodreads hasn't coded a challenge that would allow everyone to use the group shelves. You must create your own "Newbery Medal" shelf. The group won't know if your book meets the description standards, obviously. Any book you add to your challenge shelf will count, so to join this challenge just have your shelf include only the Newbery Medals and have your "date read" marked anywhere between 1/1/1993 - 12/31/2033 (that is the date range available on GR).

Linda Martin (lindajm) Should this shelf contain only books we've already read?

Linda, before you join the challenge create your own shelf called "Newbery Medals" and place all 92 medal winners on that shelf. Then when you join the challenge it asks you to choose which shelf for them to use to calculate the books you read.

How GoodReads knows if you read the book is if on your book review page, below the review box, you have marked a "Date I finished this book" has to be filled in. Even if you have placed it on your read shelf, the challenge won't count it unless you have that date filled in between the years 1993-2033.

Then the challenge keeps track of all the medals, which you have read, and how many you have left to read.
