How did you enjoy "Prague atmosphere"? :)

Nermin (narminstaley) Oh, it was beautiful and so much different from what we usually see in most YA/fantasy books. I'll go and see Prague for myself this summer anyway :p

Oh, I see :) I highly recommend - our capital is really stunning and ancient... I love going there and walking by crooked streets.. Have fun!

Nermin (narminstaley) Thanks:) Yeah, my boyfriend told me Prague is built in gothic style. He was there recently and showed me pictures of the city. It really looked different and ancient and beautiful. So I was actually very surprised and amused that this story is also set in Prague. And also I didn't know Czechs eat goulash as well:) so, well, I really loved this book, characters, plot, writing and all those cultural references.

I saw Anna's comment about this book so far over on another thread and I agree, I haven't figured out anything about this book or girl. That is other than she is an art student and slept with a guy, I'm...maybe 3 chapters in and still have no idea!

Okay, I'm now about 150 pages in and as much as there has been A LOT going on I still don't feel like I know what the heck is happening with Karou. What is she? Why is raised by these people? What the heck ARE the chimeara and angels and whatever else there are in this world? I'm really enjoying it and it is a wicked easy read, at least I feel like it is, but what is going on??????

Nermin (narminstaley) You'll find out soon enough:) I've read the book so i know the answers but I'm not gonna spoil it for you :P

Anna (amartinischwob) | 146 comments Omgoodness, this book is so aggravating at times!! Definitely got into it a bit more once Akiva stepped on the scene...but it really bothered me that I didn't even know who the bad guys were for the longest time! I'm dying to know what Karou really is...I don't want to keep going until I know I'm not giving it away, lol, but it's frustrating! I'm on page 286 :)

I'm on 281 myself and I completely agree, every time I feel like I'm getting some answers SOME GETS STABBED!!!!!

Brigid ✩ I had kind of mixed feelings about this book. I liked the world-building and the concept and the writing. It's a very atmospheric book, and I think Laini Taylor has a nice style. I had trouble connecting with the main characters or believing the romance, though. However, I do plan on reading the second one because I'm curious to see where it goes.

I can see where your coming from, I love that it is a fast paced story where there are no real boring breaks but I still haven't had a moment where I have seen that unmistakable connection between Karou and Adkiva. I'm not finished yet so maybe it's coming but I get the feeling I'm still waiting for it to happen. I also love the concept of the monsters and angels and their world, its just really creative and new!

Okay, I just finished the book...and I loved it, I really did, it was one of the better reads in a long time. BUT, I felt a huge crack open when we found out about Karou and what she was. I almost lost the character that I had read 350 pages of and it was replaced on me. I don't think I liked it, at all lol.

Anna (amartinischwob) | 146 comments I know!! I agree with you on that. I finished it as well...I really loved how different it was, it was almost refreshing from most of the books I usually read....I still felt slightly disconnected with Karou and Akiva, so that's what I still had trouble with, I'm still not convinced totally...but I really did enjoy it!...I cannot believe what bomb Akiva dropped at the end, after setting up how good Brimstone actually is and Issa and Yasri...I was like, "Wait, what?!"...I'm still hoping that something comes from that as well and hope we still have a few more surprises!

Oh I really hope it isn't true, that just wouldn't be a good second book if they aren't back. I'd love to see this as a movie or tv show, but that would be A LOT of makeup.
