The state of Ohio in it's infinite stupidity, has decided to propose forcing residents to take a new license plate to ensure the one they forced me to take years ago, will be all uniform and the other brain storm is to force us to take a new plate every 7 years. Now, mind you, if the new uniform plate thing does kick in, and they are not saying how much this will cost over all for the whole plan, just the fee I will have to pay for the privilege of having a new uniform plate. I HAVE to buy my registration tag before my b-day in March to the tune of close to $60.00 in the first place, a little adhesive piece of plastic that I will have to replace AGAIN should this plate thing to through. Each year the price has gone up on a what probably costs $.5 to make, and the state is crabbing about not having enough money to fix the roads, so this this the BRILLIANT scheme afoot now.

You may ask "why don't I just by a new plate in March. That is more than the tag and money I don't have. If this scheme goes through, it will be $10 to replace the plate and for all I know when I go to get my tags, I could be forced to take the new plate anyway, so it may be a moot point. What has me is a twist, is that we have one of the highest unemployment rates in the country, so where the bloody world do they think this money is going to magically appear?

This may force more people to give up their vehicles, and then where will the state be?

The government so needs at time out!

Now,mind you, the above is a proposal and not a done deal yet,but it is the government so you know they will get away with some version of this sooner or later. What gets me, is that they started this thing that you can get a 2 year registration so what happens to people who did that and then have this mess go through?

Well, the state got its head out of its hind end and has decided NOT to go through with the above ideas. The stated reason is that it is not a part of the proposed 2 year budget and is a very low priority on the transportation departments list. Personally, I think the rubber-band of public opinion snapped back and hit them in the nuts, but that just me.

Of course there was a "you've GOT to be kidding me!" quote to all of this when representatives said "it wasn't about money, but about law enforcement....."
I call bull****! It was so about money!

I readily admit that there are plates that are so rusty you can't read them and perhaps a forced visual check on the plates from the two kinds in question should be implemented and those who need new ones should have to buy them and leave the rest of us alone.
