David Jimenez (davidjimenez) | 5 comments I'm looking for something with a cool, well rounded, inteligent lead that tries to overthrow a goverment, a inteligent radical man that uses and riskes everyting he can for the freedom of mind of the people in his country/world whatever. The goverment tricks people's minds in very easy and stupid ways to make them think they live the best they can. A tirany badly disguised as democracy. It'ld be cool if the guy lives a double life as something related with arts and knows how to party and blood blood blood. I read 1984 already and I want something more serious than v for vendetta, no masks or superheroes, plain punk guerrilla guy.

Or something like that.

Dan's | 14 comments " V for Vendetta" is serious and more up-to-date than any comics I've come across..

In any case, hhm I could recommend a few ppl involved in political sciences, but would U care for something that "encompasses" religious ideas as well?

Also care to tell me if U are currently looking for any premisses that hold true only in the Western World, or perhaps be more specific?
( ( My latest finds have dragged down a bit, I wouldn't recommend to another) )

Christy (christymtidwell) | 149 comments I'm not sure if this quite does what you want, but you might check out Little Brother or Pirate Cinema by Cory Doctorow. They are young adult novels (and not particularly bloody) but definitely focus on protagonists who rebel against the government, focusing particularly on issues of privacy and freedom of information. I believe the sequel to Little Brother is coming out soon, too.

Dan's | 14 comments @ David : one more thing I have 3 peculiar books all --- on dystopian rebellious motivs from 3 different countries. If U are interested in that sort of thing, I could always give U a few insights..

David Jimenez (davidjimenez) | 5 comments Not if the main character is religious, if is religious is not smart, cant have both

I want to write something like this taking place exactly in Venezuela, so no, it doesnt it can be in Africa as long as the main character is the man

The most important part is the lead, the main character, i want him to feel like a great character from a great movie feels, that sense of inspiration and coolnes a good performance-characters gives, like a hero, like reading harry potter's character feels but mature, right because he knows how most people are wrong (this character wants to change that). To be more specific I liked daniel day-lewis character in the movie there will be blood, i want that i dont give a fuck in a smart way vibe, i do what i want to accomplish what i want and doesnt mean i'll be a rat or behave patetic, im going to be the best man i can be according to my standars, the right standars.

@christy those look very young, im going to check out little brother cause is free. Thank you.

I'm asking too much, I just want something similar or that would help as inspiration to write what i wanna write. Something mature, that could happen, that makes you want to rise up against ur own goverment.

The Children of Men involves some of the elements you want, but the political part of it is more accidental in a way than planned.

Oryx and Crake goes beyond a mere governmental overthrow, but might work.

Dan's | 14 comments Well guys I think U are confusing David, he is still a young guy, who mostly needs an inspiration, more than a full-blown book, of some esteemed writer.

I've already taken the liberty to give him a copy of Αldebaran project by Leo. a 9 volume work, that I hope will captivate him from the beginning

Grey Wolf | 29 comments There was a very well done recent young adult novel that would fit perfectly but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called. It had training for the olympics in a Britain where there had been a coup as a main plot element

Check out my novel I, the Provocateur. I believe it is exactly what you are looking for. You can read the sample chapters on Amazon and decide for yourself, David. Happy reading!
