Mindy (undertowsoul) Hi all! I've noticed a lot of comments about having a hard time picking your next book. Well, we're going to try something to help out.

Please make a list for me of books you want to read but just can't decide - this can be either your to-read list on Good Reads itself or you can create a separate one for me. Then, post the link to the list you want me to pick from on this thread and I will look through what you've read and the list you post for me and, working from that, I will pick one for you. Keep in mind, this is based on my opinion although others in the group usually contribute as well.

Please, if you have a private profile, be sure to add me as a friend so that I can actually view your list.

Finally, once you've read your book, let me know what you thought of it! Please post a brief reply as to what you thought (be honest!) or a link to a full review if you do one.

Thanks for your support and I'm looking forward to picking out some books!

Karolyn I suggest:

The Ugly Duckling by Iris Johansen

message 4: by Mindy (new)

Mindy (undertowsoul) Ashton, I say The Cove. But follow that with The Fifth Witness. I, of course, would like you to be able to participate in our discussion this month but The Fifth Witness is on my reading list as well because someone whose opinion I highly trust absolutely loved it. She rarely gets so absorbed in reading she loses track of time but she did with that one.

message 5: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn Who is the author of The Cove?

message 6: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn I am downloading the Audio of The Cove written by Ron Rash... I hope this is the right one. I am also reading, The Lost Years by Mary Higgins Clark. Hope I have the right Cove?

You've got the right Cove. Also I liked The Lost Years although it was very different than her normal stuff. I may be biased though, Mary Higgins Clark was one of the first mystery writers I ever read as my mother was a big fan. Then she got me hooked on Robin Cook and Michael Crichton and now I'm the one giving her books to read :)

message 8: by Mindy (new)

Mindy (undertowsoul) Yeah, I guess he would fit in Sci-Fi - he wrote a lot of suspense novels too. Disclosure, Jurassic Park, Rising Sun, Timeline, Sphere, and State of Fear were all best sellers and I think they were all made into movies as well.

message 9: by Mindy (new)

Mindy (undertowsoul) I've read most of what Crichton has written, I got addicted to him with Jurassic Park when I was 9. Most of his later stuff is just so-so but his earliest works were very good. Disclosure and Rising Sun are among my favorites.

Mindy (undertowsoul) You know, I've never read Rankin. I need a few R's for the name challenge though... I may need to remedy my lack of Rankin.

Dipanjan | 49 comments Just finished Tell No One by Harlan Coben. You may want to check it out. Here's my review link - http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/....

Please take into consideration my cautionary words in the review seriously.

message 14: by Dipanjan (new)

Dipanjan | 49 comments @ Linda - In case you make the decision to read it, do let me know if you enjoyed it. I am a sucker for fast paced thrillers. There is a French movie rendition of this book. See it only after reading.

message 15: by Mindy (new)

Mindy (undertowsoul) I'm with Linda, I definitely want to read it but it may be a while....I have about 100 others on my to-read list.

Ryan | 8 comments What does everyone think of John Sandford? Got paperback of Buried Prey at Christmas and just started it. I know he has written a ton of books so I hate not starting at the beginning of series .

message 17: by Mindy (new)

Mindy (undertowsoul) I liked John Sandford. I only got about halfway through his series before I got a bit burnt out on them but I'll probably pick them back up soon. All of the ones I read (I think I got up to book 8 or so) were really action packed and never boring.

message 18: by Mindy (new)

Mindy (undertowsoul) I'm going to have to vote for The Killer Inside Me although Bleak House is a close second (I love Dickens). As for the 2 from authors you've just read, I'd say read The Falls after another book or two. :)

Steve | 12 comments what I'm finding out for myself is reading books with certain characters like Lucas Davenport, Alex Cross, Stone Barrington, Virgil Flowers, etc.....than I know what to expect. these single novels are hit or miss.
I've started a few and stopped them. I also like hardcover books instead of paperbacks.
Stephanie Plum is good too but it's in paperback. hard on the eyes.

happy reading folks- steve

I've read most of Sandford Prey series. Not the latest ones, but, most of them. Up through Wicked Prey, actually.

I'd recommend starting at the beginning of the series, but, since you have #21 in the series, why not read that and see if you like it? Then, if you do, begin at the beginning.

Lucas Davenport, the protagonist, evolves as the series progresses. But, if you don't like Buried Prey, no need to proceed. However, I'm thinking you'll like both Sandford and Davenport.

I love both the Spenser series and the Bosch series. Also, John Sandford is one of my favorite authors. I like both his series, Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flowers. Although, I didn't really get into his Kidd & LuEllen series.

I think I've read all of Parker's Spenser series. Also, his Virgil Cole & Everett Hitch series, as I also like westerns. But, Spenser is one of my all time favorite protagonists. Partially, because it was one my earliest series that I got into.

Also, Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch series are another favorite of mine. I "discovered" him when there were only a couple of that series books on the library shelf. I went through them to find the earliest publishing date to find the 1st. That was The Black Echo, which I thoroughly enjoyed. So, I continued with the series. I'm not all caught up, so The Drop is my next Connelly book in my list.

Marion Mlodynia | 568 comments Well, I read Tami Hoag's book, Cold Cold Heart, Someone is watching by Joy Fielding, and The Stranger, by Harlan Coben. They are well written and entertaining. They also keep you guessing until the very end.
