Kim (kadykayf) The book begins in Hudson's competitive ice skating past and picks up shortly after she has started ice skating on her own.

How does ice skating define her and her relationships?

Why do you think she keep her skating from her family?

I can totally understand why she kept skating from her mom. I would be afraid too it would open old wounds. I can't imagine the guilt Hudson must feel.. especially after giving her mom that bra and saying it wasn't hers. And then her mom even saying at the end of the book that she wished that Hudson had never told her it wasn't hers.

Yeah, it's a tricky situation. Hudson and her family are on thin ice anyway. A small fissure threatens to destroy anything they have (forgive the pun, I couldn't resist). I think that Hudson also feared that her mom would think she was wasting her time on the ice when she could be doing more productive things.
