Annalea (poetsinprose) | 20 comments After taking five minutes to find the eensy-weensy "new topic" link, here I am. lol

I'm fairly new to Goodreads, and this is the only group I've participated much in, (there's such a dizzying array of groups), so I thought I'd ask here, and see if any of the authors could chime in, or if some group members know of a more a propos group in which to post this.

So, I'm an editor/writing coach/proofreader. I've done some professional work, but mostly I love to help authors. I got started helping roommates and floormates at college turn their low-graded papers into A papers. Talk about a rush . . . ;o) I've had great opportunities to work with some authors in the last few months, and I'm eager for more. Right now, this is a hobby-type thing for me. I don't need to support my family; I'm keeping my skills sharp and loving working with words again.

I have something of a forte with regency romance (I've read a lot of Heyer, and others) {grin}, but I've edited all kinds of (clean/non-horror) things.

So, are there any authors here that are interested in another set of eyes? Here's how I'm working currently:

First book is free. You provide a copy of the book, and I'll get back to you with quoted lines and notes in a reasonable period of time, and am happy to discuss and work through problem spots, etc. Any work after that can be negotiated; and I'm just working for hobby money right now, so I'm pretty darn affordable, even for self-pub indie authors.

Sooooo . . . where should I put this kind of thing? Anyone know?

Hi Annalea!

I went through the folders and I think your best bet (at this point) would be the "Looking For..." folder. We don't really have a folder for those who'd like to connect with authors because they have a service to offer. It might be a good idea for us to add one, actually. Then the members who design covers, edit/proofread, or offer marketing advice can post links to their sites or talk about the services they offer. Definitely something to consider.

I'll have a chat with Joyce (Queen moderator), if she doesn't chime in here, and see what she thinks about adding a new folder.

If there are other members out there who would like to chime in on this topic, please do. :O)

Oh, I may be contacting you, Annalea. I'm always on the lookout for another set of eyes. ;O)

Annalea (poetsinprose) | 20 comments Hi Jaimey!

Thanks for the folder ideas. I think another one for services offered would be great. There's a lot about readers and authors here on Goodreads, but not a lot about everything else that goes into publishing a book. All of that used to be handled by the publisher, but indie publishing has opened up a whole lot of opportunity for those of us who had skills, but not the time to work full-time for a publisher. ;o)

And I'd be happy to hear from you . . . ;o)

Have a great evening!

I added a new folder for people to advertise that they have services for authors. (I've moved this topic into that folder.) I also created pinned discussion threads. I encourage you to add your info to the editor and/or the proofreader threads. :O)
