Traveller (moontravlr) | 81 comments Interesting. I found myself a lot more attuned to Aristotle's logic than that of Plato, but then, maybe i haven't read quite enough of them to form an opinion, ha ha.

In fact, i've read very little of the classic philosophers or even the Classics in general, so please, i'm not trying to say that i know anything about the subject at all; - just that from what i have both heard and read of Aristotle, i tended to find myself agreeing with him.

Are there any specific points that you found yourself disagreeing with it? It would be interesting to know.

Oh, is it just this specific book that is stopping you in your tracks, though?

Traveller (moontravlr) | 81 comments Well, i should actually read more of both (if only i had the time) and then perhaps we could have a nice discussion. But, like i said at this stage i assume yourself to be a lot more well-read on both of them than myself.

I guess i like Aristotle's pragmatism more than i like Plato's idealism.

I like Plato's ideas as an elegant model, but I don't see his ideas of a model of reality;- but then i must tell you that though i am agnostic, and not quite an atheist, (I therefore entertain the possibility, though not the conviction, of a separate spiritual word and of the possibility of divinity) i am not religious in the traditional sense of the word, and the patter makes Plato more ... i don't know, makes his ideas more attractive?

Daniel Wright | 4 comments Next time Aristotle gets turned up by my reading algorithm I'm going to have a pop at getting through the whole 23 volume Loeb edition of his works. Because why not.
