Martin Scanlan | 10 comments Okay, I have received my box of 30 complimentary copies of "Give Me The Night," so it's time for me to hit the promotion trail like an Old West snake oil drummer.

The first step when you have a product to sell is to give away some free samples to generate buzz. I will be reserving the print copies for actual reviewers, both internet and mainstream; I need to stretch the free copies out before ordering more, even with my author's discount.

For my new acquaintances on the internet, i.e. you guys, I am willing to send you a free .pdf copy if you P.M. me or e-mail me at martinscanlan2015@gmail.com I ask only that when you do get around to reading it, you comment on it here. I understand that pretty much everybody on these groups has a stack of books a foot high by their bed waiting to be read, and I don't expect immediate or even fast turn-around. I'll send you the .pdf and then I promise I won't pester you with "Didja read it yet? Didja read it yet?"

Martin Scanlan | 10 comments Got your e-mail with your mailing address. First off, thanks for the response and offer, Ana, You contacted me before, and my records show I sent you a .pdf copy on May 26th. Did you not get it? I'll send you a paper copy, that's fine, NP, paper comes with the cool cover and blurb, but I just want to make sure my e-mailed .pdf attachments are getting through.

Martin Scanlan | 10 comments Okay, I have tried giving away both .pdf and book copies of "Give Me The Night" and I've found some takers. What happens then is that GMTN goes into The Stack To Be Read by the bed or else in a folder on somebody's hard drive where it is out of sight and out of mind, and if I'm lucky, somebody MIGHT get around to reading it by Thanksgiving.

That's fine. Not criticizing. A lot of people do it that way. I have a sizeable stack by my own bed.

But I need to start racking up actual READS so I can start generating internet buzz that will eventually lead to actual ching-ching cash money SALES. So far I've had only two full reads, both from women, both highly enthusiastic and tweeting it all over, but the book has been out for almost a month now and I need to pick up the pace. So, here's my challenge:

I betcha I can bust your stack. Jump your queue. Get you so hooked that you'll bump GMTN to the top of the stack.

I will send you a free .pdf copy online or else one of my remaining comps, also free. Your choice. What I ask in return is that before inserting it into the stack or hiding it away in the folder, you more or less immediately allocate about 45 minutes of precious time, OPEN THE BOOK either physically or mouse-wise, and read the FIRST TWO chapters.

I say immediately because I think we both know that if you toss the book down on your table or leave the .pdf lying in your e-mail in-box, it's still going to be there a week from now or more, unopened. We is after all human beans and that's the way human beans roll in this day and age.

But if you will open the book and read those first two chapters, you're going to be up until dawn finishing it. Now, for certain reasons having to do with plot and content, you may think GMTN really sucks. If so, feel free to tell everybody how sucky it is, far and wide. But sucky or not--read those first two chapters and you're going to finish the book.

Yeah, it's that good. Yeah, I'm that confident

E-mail me at martinscanlan2015@gmail.com for a .pdf or send me a name and mailing address for a book, to be sent media mail.
