Fantasy Lover
question
would I like it?

I finished book 3 of Chronicles of Nick and its supposed to be a spinoff from this series but they seem so different. CoN was hilarious but when I read Dark Hunter series reviews it seems to be more about romance than action. It seems be about love problems (like bad parts from Anita Blake series where she had to juggle her men, liked that series mostly because it had good action but the relationship drama sucked).
If I'm looking for a fun and action filled book like CoN, would I like Dark Hunter series???

Well, I read a lot of different books and love things to do with ancient greek and love adult stories. I haven't read Chronicles of Nic, so I don't know any thing about the series and can't make a comparison.
I've actually read Fantasy Lover last month and I wasn't blown away by it actually. I have written a review about it. There wasn't much action in it. And it is definitely adult/erotic fiction... So if you are not looking for that, I urge you to reconsider.

I also read a little bit of everything, from YA paranormal fiction to the classics. I didn't care for this book at all. Cheesy, predictable, sappy romance novel with a slight paranormal element. I very rarely don't finish a book, (I am always hopeful that it HAS to get better eventually.) This is one that made me wish I had laid it down for good.
Have nearly finished reading this series including Chronicles of Nick of which there are 3 at the moment. Have also read the were hunter & dream hunter so if you do not like romance then don't bother as they are all romance based. However I love them, books later in the series do have more action.
I recommend Connie Suttle series, they would suit your tastes, she has 3 series that i've read, Blood Destiny has 10 books, Legend of the In'dicti 3 & her latest High Demon. Hope you try them & let me know if you do :)

i love fantasy lover. i read all the dark-hunter series before i read chronicles of nick. you would probably only enjoy this book and the rest of the series if you enjoy romances with a big supernatural aspect. Chronicles of Nick though were written for teens and younger while fantasy lover was written for adults so i would just keep that in mind.
Fantasy Lover is mostly a steamy romance novel that reads like a stand alone to me. The (lovers) protagonists reappear and are tied to characters and events in the Dark Hunter series. I'd probably recommend skipping it since you've already read the Chronicles of Nick and you've stated that you don't care for the romance part.
I would recommend the Dark Hunter novels. They do center around a paranormal romance but there is more action and the premise is much more engaging than in Fantasy Lover.

Honestly I look at PNR books like romantic action movies. As there will be some sex scenes, might be some cheesy and cliched romance lines, and eventually a HEA ending. But in between there, there is usually WAY more action going on than your typical Contemporary or Historical romance book. I mean you get plot twists, betrayals, laughter, pretty much a view on all sides for the most part. And in general you get a great escape from daily and average real time drama.
But a mini disclaimer. And this goes for any romance book in my opinion. This is a genre that knows how to laugh at itself at times. And also is willing to go to some crazy back bending, head over heels, get out, levels to try and be different and original. So you might read anything in this series or another that you might have you thinking that can't be true. But that is the beauty of it being fiction. And all the reader has to do is go for the ride and suspend their disbelief just a bit and they can enjoy the journey of it. No need for major expectations other than great writing and another take on greasing the wheel so to speak.

Fantasy Lover is now listed as not a part of the series. At least on the website. I will always think of it as the first book. Because both male and female roles continue on in other books. Its fun and spunky. Touching.
Keep in mind CoN is a teen fiction spin off. Nick's character has always been kind of comic relief during the series.
The early books in the series were more romance heavy. Later books are a lot more about the mythology and fantasy aspect.
