Want to try the Challenge option for Summer Reading this year?
Pick the number of challenges you would like to attempt and then choose from this category list. Each book can only count for one category, even if it fits in two.

Read:
a non-fiction book
a book about a travel destination you would like to visit
a graphic novel
a juvenile fiction book
a young adult book
a book set in a different country
something off the NYT Bestseller List
a classic
listen to an audiobook
a book by a author of color
a book-to-movie
a book published this year
a book with a one word title
a book you chose based off it's cover
a book about someone of diverse background (like Brown Girl Dreaming or Esperanza Rising)
a book with a terrible cover
a mystery
a book about animals
a biography
a historical fiction book
a book to tv show
a romance
a thriller
a book of short stories
a book about coming out
a book containing bullying
a fantasy or sci-fi book
a book (or books!) from your state's reading list (like the Maine Student Book Award list)

Rowan (ibassflute) | 10 comments I'm going to try to do the whole challenge, we'll see how it goes! I'll post reviews on Goodreads and on my blog http://bookkat.blogspot.com/ I'm really excited for this!

message 14: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 2 comments It's hard to pick just how many. I will attempt to read 10 books. I'm not as fast a reader as I would like, but with summer vacation just around the corner I'm planning to devote as much free time as possible to reading as opposed to watching TV. So I will attempt the following:

a non-fic
a graphic novel
a young adult novel
an author of color
a mystery
a bio
an historical fiction
a romance
a sci-fi
and a classic.

message 15: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (weirdlibrarian) my goal is six books this summer. I'm currently working on 52 for the year, but I'm a slow reader :)

message 16: by Lesa (new)

Lesa Dierking Hi...My co-worker and friend, Mandy, gave us the heads up for this challenge. I will try to do all of the challenge ... at least one of each of the categories. Thanks! :) I will do my "reviews" via my GoodReads account, which will force me to use it better/to its potential. Thanks! :)

message 22: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 2 comments Well, I'm going to be overambitious. I've added three more categories to my summer challenge. I'm currently reading THE LYING GAME which I'm filing under "Books into TV Shows." I know the actual category is movies, but I think will count. I'm also including year of publication and eye catching cover. Most likely I won't finish by summer's end, but I'm going to work on reading these all anyway.

message 23: by Mandy (new)

Mandy | 2 comments I've already commented on the blog--and I said I'd post my reviews on fb--but I think I'll change that to here! Thanks for this opportunity. It's lots of fun!

message 24: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (weirdlibrarian) As of today, I've finished three of my intended six books for SRC!
