Larry Kollar (lkollar) | 5 comments Every Tuesday, midnight to midnight (US EDT), the TuesdaySerial collector is open at TuesdaySerial.com to help promote free web-serials.

It's pretty easy to participate — no logins, no hoops, just go to http://bit.ly/tscollector and enter your update. There's a full set of guidelines on the page, but here's the important thing: The "Title" field has to have your serial title, episode number, and author name. You have 90 characters; if there's room, add a genre tag if not obvious. The Link field gets the link to your serial (usually the latest episode, but see below). Don't forget both fields! The other two, name and email, are optional. If you do include an email address, we can contact you if there's a problem with your entry.

If your serial is just getting started, or you're new to TuesdaySerial, add a "- DEBUT" tag in the Title field as well. For those of you jumping in with ongoing serials, you can link to either the first or most current episode to start with. Completed serials get a CONCLUSION tag for the last episode; that tells us to add a link to your serial in the Graduates section of the blog.

Some time later in the week, we compile the weekly report and post it to TuesdaySerial.com. There are often slots open for guest posts, if you want to talk about any aspect of writing, promoting, or fixing a serial.

Just one more place to help promote your work!

Larry Kollar (lkollar) | 5 comments If you tried and failed to add your link to the collector between 11am and 1pm (EDT), there was a hiccup. It should be working fine now.

Marie Howalt (howalt) | 12 comments Thank you for making this thread, Larry! My serial has been a regular on your list for a while. :) It ends this weekend, though, so next week will be my last. - For a little while at least.

Emma Mohr | 4 comments I was thinking of using TuesdaySerial for my serial, but I'm not sure if my serial would apply. I don't update every week and each chapter are well over 1000 words. They sit at 2500-3000. Is that fine?

Marie Howalt (howalt) | 12 comments I don't know about frequency, but I think it's fine. As for length, my installments are usually 2000-2700 words, and I think I've spotted a few on there that are longer. :)

Emma Mohr | 4 comments Ok. Thank you. I'll give it a try. Thank you very much. :)

Marie Howalt (howalt) | 12 comments No problem! And good luck to you. :)

Brad W (wendelsworlds) | 7 comments I agree. 2,000 words is enough to make a fun installment while not piling on too much for someone to read in a single sitting.

Emma Mohr | 4 comments I felt the same way. That was why I kept mine at 2500-3000. Gave me some room to play with if necessary.

Larry Kollar (lkollar) | 5 comments Personally (and let me stress that, personally) I say 1000 words is a really short story, but a really long blog post. But if the writing is tight and keeps you going, 2000 words doesn't feel like much. Most importantly...

TuesdaySerial makes no restrictions about lengths of episodes, or update frequency. One sort-of restriction is that you should only add one update (to the collector) per serial per week. It's OK to say something like "Ultra Woman, episodes 4 & 5 by Nancy B" and link to one or the other. (again, personally, I'd recommend linking to the first and having "continued" links at the bottom)

The only real restriction is against "teasers" where someone posts a few episodes then says "buy the book to read the rest." We had that happen in the past. But if you're serializing a published work, it's OK to link to the published edition as long as you intend to serialize the entire work. (Confused yet?)

Remember to put your name in the Title field, so we don't have to fix it! ;-)

Tony Noland (tonynoland) | 1 comments Hi, everyone. I'm Tony Noland, one of the moderators of #TuesdaySerial, along with Larry Kollar and P.J. Kaiser. I'll be at the helm this week, so if you have any questions, concerns or issues, let me know!

As Larry notes above, the #TuesdaySerial Collector is open every week for the listing a cross-promotion of serial fiction. You can find the Collector here: http://bit.ly/tscollector.

Thanks so much for sharing this Larry. TuesdaySerial is an amazing tool and one that I use as often as I can (gotta get that regular posting schedule worked out) and have for a long time.
If you're not using this, it's a mistake!! :)
