This book is off to a fantastic start! It's set in two countries, Ethiopia and Italy, and centers around four journalists who are covering war in Africa. They stumble upon a dying priest who tells them about the Holy Grail. The four decide to believe the priest, and, after barely escaping the war to return to Rome, make a pact to someday return to Ethiopia to search for the Grail.
Parts of the story read very much like Hemingway's "The Short Happy Life of Francis McComber" or "The Snows of Kilimanjaro." There are detailed descriptions of the African landscape, and the characters are a mix of British, African, and Italian folks who are qll on a quest to find the truth. So far, I'm almost 300 pages in, and it's a great read. I'm eager to see what Frank, Henry, Colonel Gann, and Vivian find as they return to Africa and begin their quest.
