Just curious what you all prefer to read on?

Paperback
Hardback
Kindle/Nook/eReader
Other?

I have turned to a complete eReader reader. I can read a LOT faster on an eReader than a regular book and don't have to worry about lighting, uncomfortable holding of thick book, etc.....

Kindle/iPad for me. What about you?

I'm an e-reader now. I have used the kindle, but it wasn't backlit, so when I got my Samsung tablet, i installed Moon Reader Pro (I highly recommend this app). This way I can read without the lights on. Plus the tablet has all the other bells and whistles.

If I ever bought another kindle, it'd likely be a paper-white (has back-lighting for night), but I'm not feeling that need.

One reason I went to e-readers was putting off my need to reading glasses. I could adjust the font and not need glasses. Now I have fairly large font and reading glasses.

I had the non-backlit Kindle too. I recently bought the Paperwhite and love it. It's that or my iPad. Although, I prefer the Kindle because I can read faster on that than even the iPad.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Books! Prefer Paperback over hardcover

Nice job, Brittany. I'm sure your voice was the key, not the words.

It's hard to say...

I love Hardcovers, really LOVE! And there is Brittany's point... they look great on my shelves.

but I also read a lot on my kindle, the thing is I end up buying the books twice just to have them there.

I'm kinda compulsive buyer HAHAAH

message 9: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 4 comments Old-fashioned print books are my preference, though I have a slew of e-books. I rarely buy HCs unless they are on sale or it's a fave author.

message 10: by Levi (new)

Levi (levi66) | 44 comments I know I'm a heretic, but I now prefer audiobooks. They have made my commutes much less stressful, and I now look forward to yardwork and other monotonous tasks. It helps when there are high-quality narrations.

message 11: by David (new)

David Hockabout | 7 comments I usually read paper backs. I will get a HC of a series If I can't wait for it go paper. I had a Kindle, but wife confiscated it and she use it exclusively. As I get older I am have to use another e-reader for HC releases. If I do I am hiding it from my wife LOL

I usually have one HB on the go and one e-book on my kindle. I'm not particularly fussy when it comes to format, but hardbacks are my favourite. They look nice on the shelf and last much longer than paperbacks.

Levi (levi66) | 44 comments Brittany wrote: "Tried an audiobook on a commute from the airport last night and it took a good 30 minutes for the awkwardness to wear off for me."

True. It was weird in the beginning. After listening to several, I began to get a feel for the types of genres and narrations that worked well in audio. I was never big into thrillers, and the melodramatic narrators that they tend to use really turn me off from listening to those. On the other hand, the great character voices and deadpan narration for the Discworld books tend to enhance the humor.

message 14: by Kieron (new)

Kieron I do all my reading on my Nexus7 and use an app called Moonreader Pro. This is a really good app that lets you alter lots of settings to suit you. I sometimes listen to audiobooks as well depending on work commitments.

I use Moonreader Pro on my Galaxy Tab 3. It is a great program and as you said - very customizable.

message 16: by Silvana (new)

Silvana (silvaubrey) Kindle Paperwhite. The best electronic device I've ever had. I love to travel and don't have to carry lots of books. Also, Amazon has the best customer service, they removed the ads based on my request and I don't have to pay for the non-ads version ;p

I read fewer paperbacks nowadays and can have better looking book shelf (I only have one and it's pretty crowded).

Yay! Another one. I've done various formats, but my relatively new Kindle Paperwhite is my favorite.

message 18: by Silvana (new)

Silvana (silvaubrey) Amazon seems to be rolling new versions of the PW every year. The latest one has that much hyped Baskerly font too. But I am happy with my first generation PW.

message 19: by Tom (new)

Tom (misanthromantic) I alternate between the Kindle app on my Nexus 9 and my Paperwhite. The latter is better for commutes.

message 20: by JuJu (new)

JuJu | 5 comments I don't like ebooks at all. When I read I want to hold a real book in my hands. And I want to have the books I read standing on my bookshelf.
I prefer paperbacks because they are handier(is that word correct? I'm no native speeker) although hardcovers look much better. (:

Mili (miliness) | 9 comments Paperback and Ereader. Had to get used to an Ereader first but it works for me now. Get my reading material faster heheh, still buy books but only the once I really like.

message 22: by Ojo (new)

Ojo (elawnika) | 9 comments I read using e-book readers on my Android. I've got a number of e-readers: UB Reader, Aldiko, Moon Reader, Moon Reader Pro, FB Reader and Prestigio Reader. I use so many because each gives me a different reading experience!

message 23: by Mili (new)

Mili (miliness) | 9 comments Ohh thats a good idea Ojo, to put one on the phone. Never thought about it. Which one would your recommend?

I have an Android phone and I use MoonReader Pro, but you can get the free version to try out before you buy. At this point, I can't even tell you what the differences are.

I'd recommend Prestigio Reader. It's rather beautiful. Great reading experience. It's free on Google Play.

I'll have to give Prestigio a try myself. I'd never heard of it and the price is right.

message 29: by Heather (new)

Heather (bruyere) I do 50% of my books on iPod in audiobook format off Audible. Although the new iTunes update yesterday makes me want to throw my computer against the wall...

The other 50% is typically ebook on my Kindle back-lit paperwhite. I love e-ink!

In a pinch I use tablet/phone. I will have to check out these apps as I don't like the regular ones (Kindle).

message 30: by Kieron (new)

Kieron Just to let people know that Moonreader+ is half price at the moment. I use this app on my Nexus7 and it is excellent.

message 31: by Greta (new)

Greta I just got the iPhone 6S Plus and find that it's big enough for me to read on and love having the Kindle app. My husband reads some of the same books on Audible so I can sometimes switch back & forth between the Kindle and audio. I like having print books but half the time I end up buying the ebook anyway so I'm thinking I will buy fewer print books in the future.

I have the iPhone 6 Plus, but I don't use it to read. I still prefer the kindle.

I'm with you on the ebooks, though. I've been trying to pare my physical book collection down to nice hard back editions of books I love and only get ebooks for reading from now on. I may even dump many of my old paperbacks at some point.

Sometimes I'll be sitting in my favorite chair (a Queen Anne chair...not a big plush recliner) reading on my kindle and she'll just crawl up in my lab (all 55 Pit Bull pounds of her) and curly up right at my chest making holding the kindle anywhere that I can see it nearly impossible. :D

(Yes, I love it!)

message 47: by Steven (new)

Steven Williamson (stevewz) | 9 comments 95% of the books I read are digital, mostly for the Kindle app on my iPad or for iBooks. As an author, I've released the first two books of a trilogy as ebooks only, but once the third comes out, I'll release all three in a combined paperback volume. I can't wait to see it on the shelf! (admittedly, somewhat of a vanity thing). Otherwise my default is ebook.

Pisang, I am also a person that looks at the stats a lot. I pay the bills by looking at numbers and it leaks over into all I do.
