Emylee Patton | 14 comments Last summer, I read five books. This summer, I plan to double that and read at least ten books. I also plan to read at least two non-fiction books, I just haven’t found any good ones that I feel like I can actually enjoy. I would like to try and keep the amount of graphic novels I read to a minimum. I want the majority to be actual novels, preferably adult ones. I also haven’t read a classics without being told to, so I want to find one myself and read it on my own.

message 15: by Maria (new)

Maria | 11 comments ~I will read 60-84 books this summer to work towards my goal of reading at least 200 books this year.
~I will continue to go through my “want to read” list on Goodreads instead of going to the library and getting a bunch of good looking books.
~I will not read the ending of the book before I reach the ending.
~I will not judge books by their cover and read books that sound exciting or that are suggested to me.
~I will read for 30-60 minutes every day.
~I will finish every book I pick up no matter how much I dislike it.
~I will read more challenging books like Pride and Prejudice, The Kite Runner, along with others.
~I find myself getting excited each time I finish a book and can record it on Goodreads because I believe that the more you read, the more lives you get to live. Therefore, I want to read as many books as I can and I will most definitely update my Goodreads book list every time I finish a book!

message 16: by Christian (new)

Christian Woodyard | 4 comments I would like to read some books from different genres like I did last summer. One book I plan to read is Unbroken, and I’m looking forward to that book. One goal for me to accomplish is for me to read at least once a week, which isn’t hard to do, but I just need to do it to push myself to a better level of reading and self discipline.

I will read at least 25 books this summer. That will be a pace of approximately 2 book per week.
I will read at least three non-fiction books this summer (Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer is already in my stack, and I have Unbroken by Hillenbrand as a “must read.”)
I will read at least three fantasy books this summer (The 5th Harry Potter is in my stack, and I am going to finally read A Wrinkle in Time. I picked it up several times in elementary, and never finished. Going to finish it this summer. I am going to try American Gods by Neil Gaiman. I really loved The Ocean at the End of the Lane, so maybe he is a good entrance into fantasy for me.)
Harry Potter and American Gods will also allow me to meet my goal of reading longer books to improve my stamina.
