I am thinking about updating this book and would be interested in including anything (with reference to your book or books) that you have found helpful.

Christine Tate | 4 comments I find that effective marketing is all about paying attention to the details and responding to all opportunities to engage with potential readers. The phrase "the sum of the parts is greater than the whole" is applicable to marketing. It isn't just the one big promo you run that will be most effective. On a more specific note, sometimes you have to generate your own opportunities. I produce a local Christian Authors Festival in cooperation with the main branch of our local library. I don't use the festival as a self-promotion platform, but, inevitably, it does indirectly draw attention to my series. For example, to promote the festival, I contacted the local newspaper to see if they would list it as an upcoming event. The reporter asked me questions about the festival which I answered. As a matter of policy, the newspaper does not promote individual authors and I had no expectation of any publicity for myself. When I opened the newspaper to see what kind of a plug they gave the festival, they had mentioned me as the organizer and given my series a direct plug by name in the article. You can't buy that kind of marketing gold!

Tony Portell | 4 comments Amazon ads are working well for me. For example yesterday spent $ 4.00 had 16 clicks and 4 sales. Started another campaign today. Helps that my book is still a Top New Release.

I have found Amazon ads more effective than Facebook. It goes back to my view Facebook is for scrollers and Amazon is for readers.

Tony Portell | 4 comments My challenge has been more with Goodreads. Gave out 100 Kindle books 3 weeks ago and only 1 review. Does it normally take this long? My page says 7 people are reading.
