SFF Readalongs led by Kitty G discussion

This is for discussion of Chapters 22 - 24 (inclusive) of the Martian so feel free to say how you're finding it and what you like/dislike but without posting any spoilers for later parts of the book.

How goes the reading?
Are you happy the end is near or do you not want it to end?
How is the storyline?
What about the characters?
Are you gripped?

I actually teared up when Watney reached the MAV.

The third person narrative here is perfect as we see Watney stumbling excitedly out of the rover, gesturing in disbelief at the MAV, leaping into the air, kneeling on one knee fist-pumping, running to hug the landing strut and then leaping some more in celebration. After 504 sols and all the overwhelming odds stacked against him time and time again. This is beautiful!

But of course, the hardest part is yet to come.. I'm getting goosebumps just thinking of it.

And.. have you guys seen the official trailer?? Matt Damon FTW!!

I agree.... I too teared up at that part... So emotional as a journey to make it but one of the most glorious moments of his life no doubt. After everything he's faced trying to plan on getting there it seemed a little too good to be true at points, but I was so rooting for him and glad he made it :)
