SFF Readalongs led by Kitty G discussion

Hi guys!!

So the time has come for us to all pat ourselves on the back for making it halfway through the Malazan Book of the Fallen series and step away for a month so we can try out the first of the Esslemont Malazan Empire books.
I know it's no essential for you to read the Esslemont books too, but I have heard from a fair few people that it does really enhance the reading and give a slightly new perspective and take on things so I wanted to give him a go too.

From what I understand this one is a little different to many of the other Malazan books we've so far read because it takes place over only a few days and there's a lot of action.
I know very little more than that, but I am interested in comparing the difference between the two writers, and I am excited to give it a go.

This looks really short compared all the Malazan books we've read so far. Understand that this takes place before Empress Laseen so it should be an interesting blast from the past.
