Section 1

Please keep all discussion and speculation to the events of Prologue, Chapter 1-9.

No spoiler tags required. Though it would be highly appreciated if you Uncheck Add to my Update Feed to avoid accidentally spoiling this for your good read friends.

Please do not discuss events from later chapters/books. Referring back to events from a previous section/book is fine.

Man it's good to be back. Alex said the POVs are all the Rosinate's crew.

I know we haven't had Amos or Alex. Have we had Naomi before?

I'm both excited and nervous about this. It'll be interesting finally getting inside the heads of the rest of the crew now. But it could also change how I feel about the characters in a negative way as well.

Either way I'm so happy the book is out now! And with the original narrator again!

I am fairly certain we have not had any other of the crew as POVs in the past.
Just downloaded the book from Audible, and going through the Prologue.

I read through the prologue and went to sleep - ha thinking I'd now be ahead of everyone :)

I haven't read a page yet but I would like to, once again, compliment the gorgeous cover of this book.

The artist, Daniel Dociu, has really nailed it with the covers for this series.

I'd describe it as disorienting to have the crew all going on their separate ways at the start of the novel. Very different feel.

But they all seem to have important personal missions so I'm very interested to see how it progresses.

I agree I like them all together, but at the same time you are right - their missions are important. I understand Alex's to go somehow make it good with his ex, and I thought what happened (or what DIDN'T happen) was very realistic. Its probably a universal desire to want a 'redo' or to want to fix mistakes, but sadly, its not usually possible except in fiction.

I've never been a big fan of Naomi so I'll be interested to see if this makes me like her more.

Looking forward to the Alex parts and I love Amos. Holden annoys me lol, but I don't mind him as a character in these stories - I don't think I could do an entire Holden book though.

Personally, I don't miss Miller. I've missed Avasarala and Bobbie. I hope we get a decent bit of both here.

So far just a cameo of the former and only mention of the latter. Sounds like Alex is supposed to meet up with her at least. I think if she features heavily it can make Alex's story more interesting.

I guess I'm in some minority that like all of the crew. I know Dara hates Holden. I've always been fine with all of them, though Amos might be my favorite.

I like the idea of splitting them up. Especially since it means no new charactera as POVs. I'll only be upset if they don't all reunite at some point. I'm hoping the subplots will be related somehow.

Interesting to discover Naomi had a kid.

I'm not sure which subplot I'm most intrigued by so far. Maybe Holden. But unlike other books, there is never a POV I'm not not looking forward to, so that's a good sign.

Amos is my favorite character in the series, but I don't hate Holden. Right now, his story (Holdens) is the least interesting to me, but its still ok.

I guess I'm more interested why ships are disappearing than the other characters reconnecting with their pasts.

Just finished this section (don't worry, i have this week off work - so will easily catch up :)).
Great to be with these characters again. I decided NOT to read the Churn before this - to see if it will impact my enjoyment (i intend to read it right after).
Great to get the POV from the Roci crew - and glad they have split up. This is starting to feel like one of those Star Trek episodes where the enterprise is docked at a space station for a refit etc - and something nasty happens to them. I am now awaiting for the something nasty (missing ships are not nasty at the moment).

All stories are good so far, but we are ONLY at the start.

Just finishing off this section and it is good to be back. I agree with a lot of you on Amos being a great character, I have really enjoyed his chapters so far. Especially how he thought it was cool when Avarasala called him James Holdens Killer.

There certainly seems to be some long term shit going down, with the OPA having "there's the OPA and then there's the OPA". The belters getting all fractious and disappearing ships. The only part that seems calm is the Mars/Earth relationship which makes a change.

I'd read a book of just Amos and Avasarala.

I did laugh when Avasarala quizzed Amos on whether Holden had some secret agenda going on. Amso was like "when the fuck has he done anything that the whole universe doesn't know about".

Nothing like that was quoted, but you get the drift. That is the problem with audio, I have to rely on my memory.

Yeah. Really I want another Bobbi and Avasarala book. Thankfully both feature in this book at least.

Amos is my favorite character! And I was very glad to see Bobbi and Avasarala in this book. I missed them in the last one.
You are right Lee, the Earth/Mars situation does seem more calm. I guess that just shows how much the situation has changed.

Late to the game...Loving the book though. So far I love Amos's POV - I read the short story that had his backstory when it first came out, slowly coming back to me now.

Great to see Bobby, I hope she has some POV chapters and becomes a major character and not just in the background.

I wonder how long the book will spend with everyone split up or if they will all get back together soon and start investigating the missing ships and what the OPA is up to - Not sure what Naomi will do about it though if she joins back up with Holden - seems her loyalties would be a bit divided.
