The Guns of Napoleon by Peter Lean The Guns of Napoleon by Peter Lean

A cross genre (time-travel/historical) novel, based on the short story with the same title.

The Guns of Napoleon takes Victor Sirkov, professor of History at St. Petersburg State University, and passionate scholar of Napoleon, on an adventure through time to meet the very man he thought he knew so well.

Victor is contacted by the mysterious ChronoLab and given the opportunity to witness first hand what he could only have imagined. He is sent back two hundred years through a natural wormhole, and brings his personal demons with him.

Thrust into a world very different from the one he left behind, Victor must fight for survival during Napoleon’s fateful, and bloody, conquest of Russia. Knowing how history should play out, doesn’t always give him the upper hand, as Victor soon finds out.

The Guns of Napoleon deals with the consequences of changing significant moments of world history, and to what lengths one man will go to correct them, not only for the greater good of mankind, but for the woman he loves.

For a chance to win a copy of the book answer the following discussion question:

Imagine you have recently published Guns of Napoleon a book that because Napoleon gets modern weaponry dominates the Russian campaign. You have been approached by a publisher who is asking for a spiritual sequel...not a continuation of the story, but a new book in which an anachronism exists.

What is the title of your new book? Write a small blurb telling us what its about.

Forgive me for being political and perhaps commenting a bit to close to modern world affairs. My spiritual follow up would be to go into the future and bring back future tech to deal with ISIS....

Guns of Napoleon (Book 1)
Super Boots on the Ground and the fall of ISIS (Book 2)

Ken Harris (wfsgrad) | 5 comments I'm pretty new here but I love reading all of these threads. As a kid, I collected comics and one of my favorites was a series entitled "What If...?" (I think the 1st one was "What If Spiderman Joined the Fantastic Four?") so, I think it would be pretty cool if someone had a series (or sequel to this book) like that. I always thought the reimagining of our world was the greatest use of your imagination- say, for instance, a story about how someone went back and found and destroyed the original source of the Black Plague? IMAGINE.

Hello Ken!
Actually, 'what if' is the leit motif of all my stories and, I'd say, of all my life :)

Other than in 'The Guns...', the 'what if' question plays a key role in my last novel, 'Waxing Luna' (to be published soon), which is the first book of a series. More info will probably come on these same screens thanks to super-Lincoln ;)

In 'The Guns....' the changes that a modern revolver brought to our world were definitely important. But in 'Waxing Luna' I went further... Without anticipating too much, I'd just like to say that the 'Challenger' shuttle did not explode in 1986 and the colonisation of space took another turn, with not exactly positive consequences for Mankind.
Moreover, I managed to include in that novel a link to 'The Guns...': it will be thanks to the same wormhole that brought Victor back to Napoleon's years that in this new novel will bring back an 'agent' from year 3600 AD back to Texas 1969, the very same day of the Apollo 13 moon landing ;)

Interesting Peter...I think its cool to connect books despite not being true sequels. A new set of characters using the same science...

The Trojan Warmachines

"When a dozen M1A1 Abrams tanks, along with Chief Mechanic Abner Millibanks, are sent to an ancient Troy under seige, the tide turns."
