2017 Reading Challenge discussion

I would have given anything to be there the moment my dad died. It was sudden and unexpected but it happened. I picked this book up because I had heard good things. It succeeded in giving me permission to acknowledge my pain, but it was a fight to get through. It was dry, and at times confusing. I've never read anything g of Didion's before and I'm not sure I'm going to. I'm still processing this book and I can't tell if I liked it because of the emotional similarities to my own life, or hate it because she comes off as a whiney celebrity who just had the epiphany that she too can experience loss like the rest of us little people.
